  • excellent price on MAS

      $240 return from Adelaide in April. Honestly I'd probably never book any flight packages/deals from Scoopon, seems like such a hassle having to go through a third party.

      cool story bro

      My zero-star $27 booking in a roach-infested hostel puts the Four Seasons to shame. Regardless of hotel brand/rating. God…the logic of people sometimes ;)

          It is a bargain for a full service airline; I'd rank Malaysian up there as one of the best.

          So paying $400+ more for a meal is worth it? What does full service really get you?

        • +2

          @Keef
          Are you gonna at least share which carrier you bought with?
          You do have a point to an extent. I agree that $400+ for food and just flying a full service carrier isn't worth it, but just because you paid $300 with whatever carrier you bought with doesn't mean this isn't bargain.
          If your objective is to get from A to B for the cheapest price possible then of course full service is not worth it.
          Also keep in mind - you may have got it for $300, but would you be able to get it for $300 now even if you wanted to?

          Airasia. Paid an extra $30 for an extra seat in between me and my travel partner. Bought a couple of meals and the flight all up wouldn't have cost me more than $400 total. I have flown with many carriers before and honestly was more comfortable on that flight than any previous. Don't be fooled by the full service thing. It's just a flight and it's not a hotel. Each to their own though. I just don't see $700+ for a return flight to Malaysia as a bargain. Others do and thats fine.

        • I see your point. If you want a cheap flight though, I would avoid this scoopon deal and wait for the next flight bargain posted here that should be coined as such. Unless you want to pay $400 for full service :)

        • Well certainly like I said I agree $400+ for meals + entertainment is not worth it, but the reality is the difference in price if you were to purchase NOW.
          The difference might now be about $100, which I would say is definitely worth it considering most people will buy some food and baggage.

        • You can pay $30 to have an empty seat between you on AirAsia? Really? Is this only if the flight is not full? What is the catch?

        • If its full you don't get it. I don't like sharing these secrets but its called "optiontown"

        • The catch is, If the flights not full and you don't ask you will most likely get a free seat next to you anyway without paying the $30.

        • Most likely is not guarantee, if the flight is full I'd pay $30 for that guarantee.
          Especially seeing I only paid $300 for the flight to begin with.

          Even better is to go for the business class upgrade for $160 and stretch your legs out on that lie-flat bed! Yes, both of these options are not guaranteed but they refund most of your money if you don't get them.

  • I HATE scoopon!
    Bought a deal once, the company offering would never let me book, told Scoopon, they did nothing about it. So paid for the deal and got nothing.

    Get on a kayak deal like this $728, book direct. I took a random date for $728, maybe cheaper at other times.
    Select all airlines for the best price (I selected Malaysia).

    (You can add other destinations into the KUL box for a multi search if you know the airport codes)

  • I think this is quite a good price if you can get a flight during the booking period. I don't think flights to Malaysia on a full service airline are usually that cheap during Chinese New Year.

    That being said, normally full service airlines will give you a discount on child fares, usually about 75% of adult fares, which is not applicable in this deal. Also, over the past 5 years or so, Malaysian Airlines has been undergoing budget cuts because of lack of profitability and trying to compete with Air Asia. I am not sure how "full-service" Malaysia Airlines is now.

  • If you don't like scoopon deal, just search flight from expedia.com.br ex MEL to KUL.
    I just found Total: R$1.129,81 =A$541 (it's return flight all tax and fees inclusive) dep:22 Oct 13 return:29 Oct 13. It's QF flight but operated by EMIRATES….
    You just need to know where to look at for bargain deals….
    good luck.

  • Would love to sit MAS but able to secured AirAsia ticket for Chinese New Year period about $450 return.

  • Expedia.br has caught on :(

    It says 'includes all fees and taxes', then at the final checkout, bam! a large tax is added!

  • Has anyone tried flightcentre? I believe they have a price beat (but only by $1) policy on same flights by a ".com.au" company.

    Worth a call and show them this deal. IF they can match / beat it by $1, then I'd go with them..

    Might be some other conditions..But Just a thought.. {Hmm… tempted to do it myself }
