It's Telstra and I'm guessing pre-paid perhaps with $10 credit.

    • Might not be too good for an old person because it's so small. I have small hands and I still find it hard to hit small buttons and links.

    • Too small. 4 inches would be the min size I would buy for an aged person.

  • Can this be unlocked and used with a Vodafone contract SIM ?

  • yes easily unlocked,

  • Is there a way to use this as a universal remote/keyboard for say Kogan's Smart TV functions and PS3?

Have used one of these as my work phone for about a year (personal phone is an HTC One). I needed something basic, cheap, Android and with a battery that would last and this phone fits the bill. I easily get 3+ days out of a battery with light use.

    Pros:
    -Small
-Battery life (>3 days light use)
-Has copped a few knocks without damage

    Cons:
-Terrible display (low res even for its size) - picture look bad, hard to click small links/buttons
-No flash on camera (for those who also like their phone as a torch)
-Won't run any complex apps - too slow
    -Hardly any internal storage

If you want something that sits somewhere between a smartphone (surf the web, use basic apps) and the old style phones (built solid, cheap, long battery life) then this is a good pick.

    • Great review!

    • Nice summary. I got one a few weeks ago last time they had it on sale and you are spot on as to why I like it;

If you want something that sits somewhere between a smartphone (surf the web, use basic apps) and the old style phones (built solid, cheap, long battery life) then this is a good pick.

I also love that if I drop it (which is most likely, never dropped a phone before kids…now I've killed two that way) then it isn't a lot of money wasted. Am almost tempted to buy a spare :)

  • 384 MB RAM - my Y201 drives me crazy with 512MB :/

  • For around $36 unlocked this is an excellent little android phone for small money.
Highlights : 1500mah battery, 800mhz cpu, autofocus 3mp camera, nice build quality.

    junk machine
    2.3 android is rubbish
now we have to use 4.0 and higher

    • did you even look at the price you snob?

  • Can anyone comment on being able to delete pre-installed apps / saving to the 1GB memory / saving to the micro SD card?

A lot of reviews are saying you are limited to a handful of apps before getting memory errors, but I assume rooting it would sort this (is it easy to root this phone?)?

Root and use Link2SD in order to install more apps.

  • Unfortunately, can't be used on the Telstra Net G network (850 Mhz) ??

    • This model is actually LG Optimus L3 E400f which support WCDMA(3G) 850/2100 (and all gsm frequency) not normal E400. So it will support next G network (well its a Telstra prepaid phone)

How do I know…I bought one and that's what it's shown on the box (with Telstra nextG logo of course) I can take photo if you need proof.

  • installed only 5 apps and it is out of memory

    • move apps to SD

  • The LG Optimus L3 is sold out at the Woollies Sydney CBD stores at Town Hall and the Met Centre if anyone was interested in picking one up.

  • Does anyone know if the phone is compatible with Optus/Amaysim network?

  • Yes but only on the 2100Mhz band so you miss out on the yesg 900mhz coverage.

I believe this version is 850/1900/2100.
