Linksys Wireless-G Router WRT54G2 $59.95 at Harris Technology

111

On sale for $59.95 at Harris Tech(cheapest according to staticice). Available in all of their business centres.

This is good deal if you just want a simple (but rock solid) wireless-G router but not the superduper-N-quad-band-USB routers around.

I grabbed one with 5% off at Officeworks (incidentally, HT is owned by Officeworks). They didn't put on display but have it on their catalog.

I'll flash with the DD-WRT firmware for more features (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G2).

  • Good price for a nice looking router..

but in the spirit of a bargain hunter i just gotta ask…
Is this the cheapest Wireless router you can flash with DD-WRT?

Looking to set one up as a wireless bridge to make my networked-Multifunction printer wireless.

  • ash: There is the Asus WL-520gU which you should get sl. cheaper though not sure on availability. Check your local stores.

    • Thanks,
      found WL-520GU @ 52 and WL-520GC @ 42 from MSY.
just hope they have it in stock.

ps. sorry for the -ve vote on your comment. press on it by accident

Good router, I picked one up from MSY a couple months back for $60. MSY currently have it for $65. It's definitely a good product but I don't think this is really a bargain

Is $59.95 less than $65? (and even a teensy bit less than $60)? I think so - last time I checked. So of course it's a bargain!

  • i'd rather buy from harris tech…..msy….30mins wait and bit hard if you have problems to exchange it….

the modem itself??? dont think its a good modem

  • pretty shithouse router, the only redeeming factor is DD-WRT.

  • x-factors: Not meant as pedantic but don't call it a modem i.e. you can't plug the phone line into it to get ADSL. It's just a wireless router (shares ADSL connection through ethernet and wireless connections) but I do agree with you that's its not good. Alot of feedback I've seen supports this.

The Asus WL-520GU is the better bet for the price or if you want the best performance pay extra to get the Linksys WRT54GL or the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 if you can source these. All of these support DD-WRT firmware.
