130

Hi everyone,

This is my first deal posting, so I hope that it's been done correctly, and is of some use.

If you buy 3 Hankook tyres, you get 1 free, this only includes the Ventus and Optimo range.

  1. Fill in the details on the page
  2. Receive an email code
  3. Book and visit with a participating dealer
  4. Quote your code

I came across this in my searches as I need a new set of tyres.

Your tyre choice might also include the Ultra High Performance Tyre Guarantee, conditions on the page below.

Called a few different places to haggle a little bit on a set of Ventus S1 Evo 2's, finally got a price of $180 each, so the cost for 3 was $540, which worked out to be $135 a tyre.

About 1/4 the price of four?

      • lol funny ryang…
        "If" your really interested in buying new tyres slowmo, rather than just knocking rouges 1st contribution in helping others out with a "potential" ozbargain, you can do price comparisons here;

not knocking the OP, but stating a fact.

some other franchise are guilty of pulling the same trick. you can get cheaper tyres by negotiating with them directly or support the smaller shops.

it's not the OPs fault, because hankook did a dodgy one by not stating an RRP.

if they did, everything will be more transparent.

and sometimes you ask why businesses make you jump through hoops….. it's because you guys let them. ;)

        • I pretty much agree with slowmo. I'm in the tyre industry and I know from experience that the buy 3 get the 4th free Dunlop deal that Beaurepaires were doing was a bit of a joke considering that you could still buy the 4 from quite a few other retailers for less than what Beaus were selling the 3!!!

I've been away so I haven't checked out what latest deal is yet.

      • oh, don't let a maths fail get in the way of a good joke… lol

have to fill in all the details just to get a price quote? i'll pass

    • You don't fill in your details for a quote, you do it for your code to redeem the 4th tyre for free!
You still have to go to one of their nominated dealers for a quote!

  • Whenever I've called up about these four for three offers, I've always managed to find four for less elsewhere. Last time was a while ago now but it always turns out to be a con no matter what.

I bought 4 Bridgestone RE002's in the 4 for 3 promo in June. $777 fitted. Could not find anyone within 500kms of Adelaide that could do 4 decent tyres for that price.

If i had been in Sydney or Melbourne, ebay had a fair few hits but a lot of parallel imported tyres that were 2-3 years old before they're being fitted.

      • I got my RE002s for $139 a corner plus disposal fee from Jax Tyres… Think it ended up costing under $650. I was lucky though, the size they had on sale was my size. :P

        • what size though? Mine were 225/45/17

        • +1

Yeah, that's the other con these pricks use. "Look - re002's for $99". Then you find out its for 145/70R12 size, and the price in the size for your car is $300 each.

        • yeah agreed. If i wanted 235/45/17 i would have saved $120 as its a common fitment (Commodore SV6 i believe)

        • Going from 225/45/17 to 235/45/17 is tiny! Would only affect your speedo about 1%.

        • You know in saying that, the 235 is an incredibly common fitment in Oz, but the 225 would out sell it 10:1 elsewhere as it is very common on Euro and Jap fitments.

        • 215/60/16, so reasonably common, I believe?

    • I had a similar experience to Matt P. Took advantage of the recent 4 for 3 promo from Bridgestone, and paid much less than I would have had to otherwise. Rang heaps of places too. Parallel imports were indeed cheaper, but I wasn't willing to take the risks.

My gut feel is it really depends on what tyre size you're after. For a common size, you probably have better bargaining power, and thus don't need to rely on manufacturer promos as much. But the rare sizes don't get discounted much normally, so these promos are more valuable.

Just spoke to Hankook rep… This is actually a pretty good deal!
Basically fill in the details online, get your code, go to one of their nominated tyre dealers, haggle for your best price on 4, book it in, give the tyre store the code from Hankook and you'll get the 4th one free. Hankook will then look after the retailer directly!!!
In the past, some of these companies have simply said that it's based on RRP or List Price which is pretty much BS!!!
edit: Note. It's only on their Ventus and Optimo passenger car tyre range!

    • nice to know… i used to have optimos for my car, which i switched to the michelins primacy lcs… now looking for a cheaper set again.

  • thanks for this OP - needed a fresh set of tyres and came across this which fit the bill perfectly (just in time)!
