Ethanol 20c off, No Vouchers Needed One Day Only. All WA United Service Stations (Friday Only)

100

Saw this on Today Tonight program….20c off Ethanol Fuels…no voucher needed, just rock up

These new fuels are Ethanol and to lure customers into his United petrol stations - CEO David Szymczak is firing the latest shot in the petrol price war - aimed squarely at Woolies and Coles- he's knocking 20 cents off the price of ethanol fuels for one day only. "In order to give customers the opportunity to try these new fuels and to give it back to the supermarkets, United's dropping the price of e10, premium 100 and e85 by 20 cents a litre on Friday off the board price"

The discount will apply to all western Australian united outlets which supply the ethanol based fuels - the petrol price boards will display the already lowered price, which will be based on the unleaded fuel as a comparison.

    • even for free?

      e10 is a joke
      e85 is a different story

      • for 20c off. e10 is acceptable.

It's so much better for the environment. Fossil fuels are NOT a sustainable source for the future. The plastics industry need it more than oil refineries. The more research we can invest in ethanol production, the cheaper it can be produced.

Fossil fuels are NOT a sustainable

It is if we find more fossils… Rudd needs to invest more money into Paleontology…

Ethanol is arguably no better than many fossil fuels. One of the few things in its favour is that it doesn't take millions of years to create.

        • Interesting, can you provide a source?

          can you provide a source?

Bass Strait is a good source.

        • Google it. Environmental costs of producing ethanol are well documented.

      • +2

the production of ethanol is unsustainable and can never replace like-for-like of fossil fuels by current world consumption (much less the future).
you will need to raze more land and make more animals/insects/fauna/etc extinct to grow the 'biofuel' you are claiming to be supporting.

we all need an alternative fuel source, but current tree huggers are like the current tony abbott…. only say 'no no no' but have no workable alternate solutions.

i'd put it into my classic car

        The Kingswood ?

        • lol

          ye olde BMW 318.

Ethanol burns faster - savings are eroded through increased consumption.

Keep in mind if your car is not tuned for e10 not to use it and DEFINITELY don't use e85 if your car is not tuned for it.

Fuel containing high concentrations of ethanol is only suitable for vehicles that have been specifically designed for it. The use of E85 in vehicles not designed for a high ethanol content fuel will cause drivability problems, the severity of which will depend on the individual vehicle. It will also damage non compatible fuel system components.

    • Agreed, almost all newer cars are able to use ethanol based fuels, but do not use it for older cars. It will corrode the components in your car.

Dang. Come back when you have a deal on real 100% ethanol please.

This stuff is only 10%, and the other 90% is petroleum, making it quite undrinkable.
