Long time reader, however first time poster, so please be gentle … I just bought a ticket for $1375 return on the weekend from Qantas, checked this morning out of habit and saw flights adveratised at $1094!! for travel between 02 Jul 2009 - 24 Oct 2009

Flights are direct MEL-LAX-NYC, you just need to find a direct flight … I thought i had the cheapest flight to NYC on the weekend - as with everything the next day changes the word best!

I gotta admit, I don't know heaps about the US options (particularly east coast) despite the fact that I'm actually in California at the moment :)
What I can say, is that this sounds like a pretty damned sweet deal to me! (I paid a LOT more than that to get here).
