Went to Dse at mornington today and these where on clearance.

EMTEC Looney Tunes 4GB USB2.0 Flash Drives

Sylvester. $1.24

Tweety, Taz and Speedy. $1.86

Had at least 6 of each type at that time.

Picked up 1 of each for the kids.

      How to scan all stores? Well, in part, thanks to you! I had been trying to figure out how to do it with the regular web site. I got it to work but it was crazy-difficult and took forever to run. Then you posted your links to the mobile site and I thought "hmmmm, I shoulda tried that myself!"…

      It's basically a three-step process:

      1) Get really annoyed about all the DSE deals on OzBargain for which you can't find any stock

      2) Figure out how their web site works

      3) Write something to scan all stores!

      So I just wrote a script to take a pre-prepared list of store names and postcodes (I did that a few weeks ago), and hit the mobile site repeatedly to check stock levels. When you ask for one postcode, it gives you nearby locations as well, so if you're smart about what order you do them in you can get all 263 stores with about 70-80 requests.

      Next targets: Officeworks and BigW! :-)

      Actually, the Big W web site says "store stock levels updated once per day at 6:00am". I wonder if Dick Smith are doing that as well. I'll run my check again tomorrow and see if Mornington disappears from the list.
