        My offer $500 for worse CPU and Motherboards swapped with bigger hard disc in your case.

          Bear in mind the CPL deal was very good, but there were absolutely no alterations to the build allowed (ie. couldn't ask for bigger hard disk, PSU or whatever).

          This allowed them to run out excess stock of some components (eg. 500gb hdd).

          A little unfair to compare a custom build price to a take it or leave it deal?

          Gunnny couldn't get the system he is asking for you to provide him for $500 from CPL - the CPL deal was take it as is or piss off….

          Also you can't get that take it or leave it $500 deal now from CPL as it is discontinued. They are still selling it at $549 which isn't a bad price…

          Gunnny what did CPL quote you for the build you want?
          I bet it was over $500??

          A fairer comparison would be to say the CPL build is now $549.

          Gunny wants -

          A lesser CPU ($17 cheaper based on MSY pricing)
          A lesser mobo ($10 cheaper)
          A bigger hdd ($37 more expensive)

          There are also differences in the case/PSU combo - the PacStar combo is $33 less.

          That means fair pricing for Gunnny if you allowed chopping and changing would be $526?

          I think the issue is partly that CPL was dumping the 500gb hdd's because there is no demand for such a crappy small hdd, and therefore they don't see the cost of those hdd's being anywhere near $58 - they are basically unwanted stock they can't sell otherwise and they have to clear, so hence bundle them in the take it or leave it deal…

    I have dealt with PacStar in the past (got my Shinobi XL full tower case from them a couple of months ago).

    They have been in business a long time and are trustworthy. They are also in the same suburb as me (and Gunnny is right, they have put the wrong post code for Epping in their post).

    MOTHERBOARD: $89
    SSD: $105
    HARD DRIVE 2TB: $95
    DVD BURNER: $28
    ATI HD 7770: $112
    CASE: $67
    BONUS SANDISK USB (assuming it is USB 2.0): $7

    GRAND TOTAL $780 (though you may not want to be paying for the USB drive so you could fairly argue $773).

    That makes it $26 for assembly for the actual build which PacStar are offering, not the custom build Gunnny is trying to obtain….
