  • Does anyone know of an equivalent good Independent MB service place in Sydney?

    • Eurostar motors in South Strathfield/Greenacre. Been taking my cars for few years, cars running smooth!

  • My local garage Nissan Maxima $160, Commodore, $140, GTi Golf $190 (all handbook Service)

    • Where is this your local garage jim can you recommend quality of this garage

    • I'd be worried. You could barely buy the recommended oil and genuine filter for a gti golf let alone all time to do everything required.

      • Remember though, this places get their parts at bellow retail prices that you or I are able to buy them for. How can those flashy Service centres and dealerships afford the staff etc. BY charging us a very nice premium for our services and parts etc.
I've experienced this whilst owning a Renault Laguna and now a Citroen C4 (European cars, where ever in Europe they are from= high serve.costs), although my Mitsubishi Colt Turbo is not far behind, I've never had the Renault or the Citroen Serviced and walked out paying less than $500.00!

        • stop talking sh!t!, to honour the Manufacturers handbook, my local Mech uses genuine parts, if you opt for non-genuine, no worries, he'll do it but he warns that your factory warranty may be voided. he's ion Northern suburbs Melbourne.

        • Are you talkin' to me!, Are you talkin' to me!. Or are you replying to Matt P's post reply.
If your "stop talking sh!t!", is with me… CHILL OUT!.
I was just highlighting to Matt P, the parts are alot cheaper for dealers/garages than for the general public at RRP, how do I know, my brother was a mechanic (for semis albeit), and I work with someone who used to be a mechanic at Mitsubishi in NSW for 15 years.

      • it's a Golf GTi Service Mate, Oil, Airfilter, Oil filter, rest is Labour charge. 1.0hours ($60), $130 for parts (still bit of fat in that!!)

  • Last time I checked, MB themselves had special A service deals on some models for $350. Mine was included and considering they use 9 litres of Mobil1 0W40 that is like $150 just in the price of the oil.

  • Thanks. I have had my D Service thing pop up a few weeks ago and have been looking for an excuse to service the car. Just booked in a service.

Their website looks good but it lacks a few key things like opening hours, or even if they are open on weekends.

Hopefully I'll find out soon as I just filled out their online form for info.

    Regards
    Daniel

      • Sorry, didn't see it but booked and done last Friday.

        • you could still pm me your details if you like :)

regardless, nice to hear that they were good enough to consider for a return visit

  • Here are my thoughts on the Job.

    Job:
    Service B for my E320

    Costs
    $562.50 - Service B (Normally $750 less 25%)

    Additional
    90.00 - Wipers ($120 less 25%)
    112.50 - Brake fluid ($150 less 25%)
    120.00 - Coolant ($160 less 25%)

    Total
    $885.00

    Nice bonuses
    1. Car was detailed inside and out. Even my usually grimy wheels were polished. I almost didn't recognise my car when I went shopping that weekend
    2. They also fixed up/reset my settings so that my seat now automatically reverses back when I pull my keys out. It stopped for no reason a few months ago
    3. They were happy to have my drop my car the night before and put my keys in the drop box and for the following night, for me to pick up the car (had spare key) after I paid over the phone
    4. The 25% discount applied to all additional things I needed so that was good. I also need to get a new set of tyres at some stage so I might see if I can get some Continental IVs or something (as long as I get 25% off)

    Unexpected annoyance
The next day my front left parking light went out and so I had to pop into Autobarn to get a replacement. $20 for pair of Philips H6W globes or $47 for the blue tinted ones. I went for the normal ones. Can't really blame them but was annoying.

    Overall experience:
Very happy, will consider going back to them for next job. Hope that they do another deal though as I am a cheap ass.

    Regards
    Daniel
