  • That's a real bargain for a wireless N ADSL2+ modem router. Cheapest on staticice for this Linksys wireless modem is $53.

For $20 can't go wrong. Wonder if it's at all Australia Post shops or just that one shop.

Don't forget to upgrade the modems firmware because this is likely old stock at Aus Post shop with an old firmware.

    • I bought this last week for $9.99 from Collins St west post office. :)

      • Sounds like it may be hit and miss which Aus Post shops are discounting this ADSL modem and different prices too.

      • wow $10 thats crazy how good is the modem router in terms of speed is it easy to set up.

  • any know this is available in nsw post office or only at wa post office i've never really seen any modem routers at my local post office, this is a very good price. How fast is this modem router in terms of speed is it faster than 54mbps.

    • It's those larger Australia Post shops located in shopping centres which carry things like these ADSL2+ modem routers and other assorted computer peripheral gear and accessories. The small Australia Post franchise post offices don't seem to carry them. You'll have to go down to your nearest Australia Post shop which carry the computer peripheral gear in stock and check if it's available there.

    • It's has Wireless N so it has to be faster than that 54mbps Wireless G speed. I believe it would be Wireless N 150mbps being an older model Wireless N modem router.

  • i checked the Australia post website and my local post office says it stocks it but its price at $79.95 I'll go in and check on Monday maybe they will reduce the price to $20 as well if they are clearing stock.

Had this. The wireless was extremely flaky. Expect daily hard resets.

  • I bought this router a couple years back and agree with camios. It has given me nothing but problems, constant drop outs. Would not recommend.

    • Well it wouldn't be quite as good as the D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300mbps router i got from Harvey Norman for $15 back in february even though it doesn't have an inbuilt modem but i just have it connected to a cheap Tenda ADSL2+ modem.

But for $20 for this Linksys wireless modem router you can't expect too much. It is after all just a wireless modem router designed for only homes.

      • If you must boast:

Well it wouldn't be quite as good as the D-Link DIR-865 Wireless AC 1750Mbps router I got from DSE for $0 + $15 cashback in May even though it doesn't have an inbuilt modem…

Nice. You got a bargain!. Well done

    • I've been using this modem for over a year now and I have never had to hard reset it. It's constantly in use as well.

  • No DD-WRT support for modem-router combos.

    • Actually there is support for a Modem router combo,

Check DD-WRT for the Bufffalo ADSL Modem.

  • I have the next model up, it is only really good if you are close to the DSLAM or RIM/CMUX less than 30db. The wireless is steady enough and good throughput. Only problem is it takes a while to sync and can get a bit hot.

  • O.M.G that's the modem I'm using right now.
I paid $120 for it a few years ago.

on LAN cable it's rock solid. WIFI coverage is only short to medium. WIFI is flaky beyond 12m. Android devices sometime dropping WIFI even under 10m. Iphone and ipad are ok with it.

IF I link this modem to a wifi extender, I will have intermittent no data flow issue which I will have to restart the modem. Recently I link it to a router using WAN-bypass method and it's been fine since.

overall it's been a good modem. I have pull so many gigs through it and it didn't die yet.

  • Certainly a bargain,paid $75 two years ago.

  • Thanks for the heads up. I got mine from the local post office at only $9.99! It was marked at $99.95 original price.
