        I don't deny it is rare/hard to find an entry i3/AMD equivalent or better laptops with a touchscreen, but if you are able and patient enough to wait a couple of months for a cash-back of $79, you can get the listed laptop's bigger and faster brother ( or sister :-), Acer Model Aspire Touch V5-571P-33214G50Mass for a good price of $499 after getting back $79 in Acer Cash-Back. It is being offered for that price at the well known M.S.Y. retail and on-line computer store franchise. I have this exact model and am very happy with the balance of performance/ features for the price. Unfortunately I paid $100 more about 2 months ago at different store, but am still happy with my purchase, but at this current price it is great buying for a reasonably slim/light and attractive portable laptop/notebook complete with a Touchscreen ( glass ), CD drive, usb 3, 4 gig fast ddr3 1600mhz ram, decent performance with a 3rd gen. intel i3 ulv ( 3217u ), decent battery life ( 3 to 5 hrs. ) all whilst looking sleek & slender. One thing to remember, although ram upgrade is easy ( max 8 gig ), this range currently has a standart 500 Gig 5400 rpm hhd. with no easy/quick access to upgrade to a ssd. ( have to do a fair bit of dismantling ). Enjoy

        I think " trinets " was just asking " best sub $500 windows 8 netbook/notebook atm " in general.
        The suggestions would depend on your own personal needs such as sreen size/portability/performance/
