as long as Google don't take away the microsd and give you only 8gb of memory, then it's worth considering
The problem with samsung is that they keep adding cores but their TouchWiz still lag. So even with no sd I would still buy from google just for their stock rom and quick updates.
then you realise their nexus (current ones, not the new S4) doesn't have a hard wired 'home' key. it's the single and most crucial gripe i have about google's mobile. that alone takes up real estate on the actual display.
so hoping the new google+samsung S4 is launched with all the features intact.
I have nexus prime and no home btn but it really doesn't bother me at all.
You mean it doesn't have a hardware home button???
I have a galaxy nexus and I've learned to love the software keys. Running Cm10.1 and I can change them to w/e I like.
not a hardware 'menu' and 'back' (can't remember the right term) button either.
The 0.5-0.7cm bar that is taken up by the menu controls on the nexus 4 is a waste of prime real estate especially when you are comparing 'viewable' screen.
also, this is taking rooting/mods out of the equation. Likewise you can mod a samsung with equal or better features.
it may not bother you, but it bothers me, thus my comment "crucial gripe i have".
Nexus normally don't have SD, so I am not expecting this one to either.
If you hate Touchwiz, you can root the phone and install vanilla Android on it.
Not this phone though, if you want to install vanilla on S4 make sure you get i9505, this is the i9500.
The support for the i9505 will be nearly non-existant for the vanilla roms, and/or they won't run well.
Give it some time. Once Google releases the phone, someone will rip the ROM and then you use that one.
Personally, I hate stock Android. I like the added features Touchwiz includes that you don't get on a Nexus.
Doesn't make sense for google to spend extra on minor design changes just to remove a feature everyone's been crying about.
Well there are enough people who hate Touchwiz and Sense for there to be a market for stock Android.
S4+Google reference sounds good, but if google takes out micro sd and all the features from samsung…
not sure…
Touch wiz definitely lags, but i really liked some of the Samsung original apps (S translator and etc)
Also these days Samsung upgrades firmwares pretty fast, only about few months (1-2? from my experience) difference to reference ones…
Let's hope the hardware is identical so that we can flash roms from Google on Aust phones!
Stock Rom is worth an extra hundred to me easy. I'm wrapped with this, might make it my next phone and I sold my S3 to get a nexus4.
Why extra $100? Google will sell it for $649.
$650 in the US, probably $700 in AUS.
Can't you already put a custom aosp rom on an S4?
If so, why bother getting the unlocked one?
Custom AOSP roms will never run properly or support all the phone's features as Samsung doesn't release the phone drivers/CPU architecture making it incredibly hard for devs:

Especially on these "limited stock" phone deals.
I was also worried when i saw plasmapuff's post after i ordered from them, but got it fine.
In my experience, i just got Xperia Z (purple), yesterday from them, didn't have much problem except waiting about a week for the phone to be in stock. (Definitely should check the amount of stock with them before you order if you are in hurry or something.) Ordered on 3rd or 4th, shipped on 13th arrived on 16th.
I ordered dock and phone. Dock was sealed but the phone wasn't but didn't seem like anything was faulty.
Only got it yesterday so not sure about their after service.
This company's bad reviews are well earned. Steer clear.
And if you do decide to risk dealing with them, be sure to pay with Paypal or CC. If you have to return an item , for instance, if they deliberately send the wrong item, hoping you wont notice (yes, they do,) be sure to use a shipping method with both tracking AND a signature. When I eventually had to escalate a paypal claim after endless promises of a refund that never eventuated, they lied to paypal about having received my returned item, although I fortunately had emails from them to the contrary.
I've bought off them multiple times, and so has my cousin. We've all had positive experiences from them.
I've ordered my GoPro Black edition off them, when they sent me a 'out of stock' email i just called them up to enquire and they agreed to send me the in stock items first for no extra cost. They completed my order a week later as was promised.
This is the i9500, Exynos 'quad'-core with no LTE and dismal AOSP rom support.
But it has 2 x 4 cores? I.e. the more battery efficient one of the two?
For people who don't intend to play around with custom ROMs and don't have 4G, it's the better choice.
Don't forget to add surcharge on top of price.
Buy S4 now, install nova launcher + stock jb or custom rom to stock jb … profit?
I would wait for this:
