The i5 is quad core, 4GB is rather low

    • Regarding quad core i5, that's what I would have thought, Apple says different though:

    • The i5 is a dual core, but hyperthreads to four cores.

Desktop i5 is quad core, Mobile i5 is dual core. Not even all of the Mobile i7 are quad core. It is all marketing BS; The difference between an i5 and i7 is very small except for a few features that help with Video encoding. It is the same thing with mobile graphics cards. Even though the are some laptops that offer separate graphics chips, the performance is nowhere near the Desktop version of the same model.

My advice is not to bother with a laptop if you are a gamer looking for high performance. The laptops that are any good for gaming run into the thousands and have no advantages of a laptop except it is "portable" (Battery life and size/weight are no good), and the repair-ability/upgrade-ability is shocking compared to a Desktop.

If you don't care about Gaming, MacBook Airs are nice machines. Just make sure you get the AppleCare because you can't really repair these things very easily.

  • I bought one today got it for $1150 as it had been opened, decided I wanted a sealed one,so he let me have it at that price and I picked it up at another JB store.

  • New one should be announced in around a month, it looks like most stores are just trying to clear stock in time for a new one now.
