================

Trying to decide between a weekend trail bike and a commuter? Get both in the one bike with the Reid X126.

Fresh for 2013 Reid Cycles are proud to introduce the X126 mountain bike. Designed around a lightweight 6061 alloy frame for a super responsive ride, the Reid X126 gives you confidence, control and versatility from forest trails to urban jungles.

The X126 is the product of a great amount of research all focused on delivering a tough, reliable bike loaded with quality parts at a very affordable price. Competitor bikes with similar specs are selling for well over $500.

for Shimano Tourney? Bollocks. Looks OK for the price though. Bonus points for rigid forks instead of bad shocks.
Spend more if you are riding regularly though.

  • OMG… i actually purchased this bike 2 months ago… i really like it since i wanted a bike that i could use on and off the trail.

style wise i've been receiving alot of compliments on it and i really like it, just wish i could keep up with my mate's Cell bike when we ride together since he got the road/pathway ones and this i'm using as multipurpose..

  • "Trying to decide between a weekend trail bike and a commuter?"

get a hybrid, not a freaking mountain bike that probably weighs a tonne.

you will never keep up with your mates road bike, since it probably weighs a fraction of yours.

since it probably weighs a fraction of yours.

      about 2kg less…

      • +3

        5/6 is still a fraction!

Then again.. so is 6/5. hmm.

Weight is part of the problem. For me it's the friction caused by the tyres. Larger contact + threaded grip = rolling resistance. Have fun trying to keep up with those tight a$$ lycras! Been there done that.

        • +1

you could always put different tyres on your bike

      • +1

depends what kind of Cell road bike, a carbon frame one would be significantly less.

    • They say 12.1kg - that's not too bad.
Tyres are easily changed to slicks.
The riding position will not be as aerodynamic as drop-bars, but you can just slip-stream. Your mates on roadies will pity you and excuse you from riding up-front if you have a mountain bike. Especially this one.
