  • Cheap for a .com but why advertise a com.au if its not cheaper than name.com.au's $20 for 2 years.

      Becuase it is cheaper! :)

      I've just updated it to be clearer… it's $16.50 for 2 years.

  • Do you still need an ABN to get .com.au's?

do you really need to say 6.5 years birthday?? how lame is that.. will it be any other celebration for your 6.6, or 6.95 years birthday??

    • +2

The birthday thing is a joke…

    cheaper with GoDaddy.

    • Where did you see that? The front page of the GoDaddy website is showing A$15.21 for a new .com

      • i've seen their prices fluctuate all the time.

  • Attractive price but as per their conditions, the $6.50 domains can only be registered for one year and not multiple years with the renewal price $20. The description here is a bit misleading.

I am assuming that the .au domains is therefore only able to be registered for a maximum 2 years at the birthday price?

    From their website

    Conditions of the offer:
All .com .net .org .biz and .info domains can only be registered for 1 year at this sale price.
This offer applies to new domain registrations only. Existing domains cannot be renewed at these prices.
Once the domain registration expires, it can be renewed at our normal pricing.

The sale is between 12:00pm and 6:30 pm on Friday the 20th of February AEDT. Please amend these times if you are in another time zone.
All .com.au and .net.au domains have eligibility criteria which must be met as per auDA rules.

    • Yes, the .au domains are registered for the first 2 years at the special price, and then revert to the normal pricing for subsequent 2 yearly renewals.

  • so register for two years (or one year) then transfer somewhere else if you really want..

    • Transferring also costs money.

      • How much does a transfer cost ? Sounds like a bit of a trap !

        • If you wanted to transfer away, you can at no cost to us. You would just pay the price of the company you are transferring to. We don't charge a 'transfer away fee' or anything like that.

      • No. Transferring .au domains should not cost you anything. Transfer gTLDs (.com/.net/.org) would cost you at least the price of a 1 year registration at the new registrar, but your expiry date gets extended by how much you paid.

  • I've just activated the sale prices! :)

  • There's still plently of cheap domain names available, so get yours while you can. There's only 2.5 hours left of the sale!
