    too soon

    • What are you talking about?

        the bad joke

        • Oh. Derp.

I think Gristy felt the comment "Maybe something to do with the brand?" was a bit unnecessary due to recent events.

EDIT - I clearly type far too slow!

    • Don't forget anyone in a public forum is pure. None have ever laughed at or told a sexist, discriminate or racist joke ever.

      • Of course there is but obviously they will get neg'd and deservedly so. There is a time and place for everything and it seems most people don't agree the joke was done at the right time.

  • The incredibly distasteful 'joke' not withstanding, are the shirts any good? Never heard of the brand before.

    • The shirts are Rhodes & Beckett's more accessible brand. Different materials and manufacturing process, slightly different designs, similar cuts.

Well, it might not be a joke by the original poster - given the negative connotations of the name, perhaps the suppliers are attempting to offload as much existing stock before changing the brand name?

    • Sorry it wasn't meant to be a joke, I've removed that line from the post. I did wonder if the discount had something to do with the recent events though.

  • There's a few $99 shirts on Myer website but none at $70. OP can you clarify which shirt this was.

"The Boston Brothers seasonal collections takes its lead from the Ivy League collegiate influence that permeates throughout Massachusetts with a preppy cool, confident and at all times sophisticated handwriting. This shirt features french cuffs to wear with cufflinks and a cut away collar. The body of this shirt is cut to a slim fit and features a front stitched placket. Boston Brothers shirts are crafted using pure 100% pure cotton sourced from the finest mills in Europe."

    • Here's what I bought, had a $99 tag on it: http://i.imgur.com/3GCdOiD.jpg

    • Usually the 75% off sales are clearance items or discontinued items, products advertised on their website are usually new stuff (unless in their sale section), so I doubt any of those styles will be found at 75% off.

This was from the sale that ended on the weekend right?

Everyone else was buying 75% off suits etc , ie scored 100% wool pierre cardin suit for less than $90.00

Also just about every Myer has a 75% off rack you just need to find it

  • Bought 3 shirts Myer Melbourne yesterday for $200, reduced from $300… I wish they were $17.50! They are good shirts.

Given that receipt says AW 12 (Autumn/Winter 2012) it may have been clearance of last year's stock.

  • Boston Brothers shirts are pretty nice, they are a (slightly)cheaper brand of Rhodes and Beckett as someone already mentioned.

I have had three of their shirts. Two of them (which I bought first, together) wore out within a year or so of wearing (at a guess) slightly less often than once a week. Both ripped in similar areas on the arm, and I definitely didn't snag either.

The third I still have but it doesn't iron well so I don't wear it.

I would say obviously for $17.50 that's a ridiculously good price, though I would probably still pay $40-50 and get Oxford shirts in their regular sales. I find Oxford to be well cut and great materials, and for me they last longer.

i'd choose tm lewin $36 or charles tyrwhitt $39.50 instead :)

No joy at the Sydney city store. Scanning at $99.

No joy at Chatswood, Sydney either…

  • Great Shirts! I bought one for a wedding about 3 months ago. Just has a feel of quality. I would have been down at Myers tonight if i could get them for that price.
