  • The irony, I just reactivated my Samsung Wave to be used as a music player….beautiful hardware, sadly no software updates and showing its age now.

For this price, add a 32GB SDHC and load her up with music….would be better if it ran on Android (FLAC).

    • yea… i got this Samsung Wave signed from Virgin Mobile 2 years ago… nice hardware

      • now that I am carrying it again…I miss how phones used to be small, slim and had high quality build. That brushed aluminium case is gorgeous…

Just note that this is running Samsung's Bada OS - here's a review of the phone:

Reminds me of my Nokia N9. Lovely hardware but OS leaves it as an orphan.
Lots of uses for old phones. My X6 is a great recorder for meetings and press conferences!

    • You can put Android on your N9. Google it, I was tempted to buy one to stuff around with it.

I cannot put these two phones in the same picture, I bought my N9 after this phone, and I hated the Wave!
To me the Wave was not useable: crashed all the time, got low memory all the time with only browser running, had to close home screen and guess what all widgets would be removed from home screens, and it can consume 50mb of data easily with hardly anything done.
On other side I love my N9 from day 1, so beautiful the OS is so smooth and I love the swipe UI! 3 firmware updates released within months.
Maybe they're both orphans, but the Meego or N9 is definitely the more grown up one and may survive with the money Nokia left (Jolla)

      • I have to admit I got crahses and low memory warnings when I used the Wave as a phone, not all the time but enough for me to remember. I never did own a N9 though. I moved onto Android, Galaxy S > Galaxy Nexus and have been much happier.

        • Without Android, Samsung is only a hardware company anyways.

  • Why would anyone in their right mind want it at this price?! A Motorola Defy+ is about the same price and 10x more capable. A bargain would be about $50.

    • I actually had this before my Defy…, now with the iPhone… lol

    • link please…I wouldn't mind an Android powered tough phone that will play FLAC

The Defy+ was $99 from JB in the same sale this morning. Looks like it is sold out now.

bugger, oh well money not spent = money for paying off the car

  • They had this one for $30 some a few hours ago;

    • My younger sister had one of those….horrible things, but then again no one in my family has had much luck with Sony, every Sony phone that has come through the family has been plagued with multiple problems/repairs etc. Lovely specs on that Vivaz though

      • Yeah I had this one a few years ago:
        http://www.procomparison.info/pics/larger/image-sony-ericsso…

Really liked it but it would restart itself all the time

      • That was just Ericsson fault. The swed should had just stick with ikea. Sony phone are better now cause they are actually design and made by Sony.

  • Solid non ios/android/wp7 phone. But I wouldn't buy one at this price. At best, I'll probably fork out $60

  • Is this unlocked ? And how does this phone compare to the Huawei ascend Y201 on special tomorrow for $39

    • Answer: forget this phone, go with the Huawei ascend Y201

    • Where is it on special tomorrow? JB?

      • At coles

        • But that is locked to Telstra

        • Search ob $5 unlock code

If this is indeed the UMTS 850 version, then from what I can recall, there were only two firmwares available for it - Telstra and Hutchison - both of which were never updated beyond Bada 1.0. If you switch to one of the 1.2/2.0 firmwares intended for UMTS 900 models, you lose UMTS 850 and the phone becomes 2100-only.

Seriously good phone in terms of metal build quality and screen. No lag.

If you don't need apps. Very good deal.

  • Aaaaaaaand it's gone
