Outside of LTE/4G, this version of the phone has 2GB of RAM vs the 1GB on the cheaper 3G version. Its much better for those who uses a lot of widgets on the screen or have installed heaps of crap taking up memory along with the traditional Samsung Bloatware (which may only have <200MB free). Definitely worth getting just on this reason alone.

Definitely worth getting just on this reason alone.

Wow sounds like an ad from Samsung!

Then you are getting this for the wrong reasons. Bloatware can be removed by rooting.

If you have a 4g sim I would understand. But getting a bigger house because you can't clean the pile of crap, isn't exactly ozbargainer's ethos.

      • Actually not all Ozbargainers ethos is to root phones and potentially invalidate warranties by installing custom ROMS or removal of "standard" software. Not everyone is keen or capable of this. Hence why the bigger house is better under those circumstances.

        • -1

          missing the point.
would a ozbargainer pay $100-$200 more because he can't be bothered with cleaning up crap or features (4g) that he is unlikely to use as I've pointed out. read what I said again.

what I am saying is basically the points you are trying to justify getting this phone for has (very) weak merits.

I would get this phone simply because it's cheaper now. Not for the 'reasons' you were pointing out for.

        • Again, it looks like you are missing the point. Not everyone even on OZB is technically adept enough to root or install custom ROMS. You are taking into the presumption that everyone is like you in this case. Of course, there will be views about 3G being cheaper and all that, but there will be others who will pay that little bit more just for the 4G and the extra memory involved as well (which are the functional differences).

        • I'd also say resale, would be a good factor to buy the 4G.

I'm with you bchliu, even though I can root the phone and put an assortment of roms on them, they always seem to come with sacrifices, ie loss of camera, loss of gps etc etc

      • Actually Touchwiz allows you to freeze (more or less uninstalled - not being used) bloatware without rooting your device.

        Gotta love samsung :)

  • 2-3 wait. May drop another $50 in this time

  • Not sure it's always fake Kogan reps who post these, but CitiWide is cheaper again:

    $424 shipped
    http://www.citiwideonline.com/au/index.php?page=shop.product…

I think it worths the $20 extra for a 4g/2Gb upgrade.

    • Just look at the posters history - I would doubt if a Kogan Rep would get paid enough to post that many varied deals here, just to hide their background.

You might want to reconsider that comment..

    • Anyone used Citiwide Online ??? Any experiences to share. How do they compare with Kogan and UniqueMobiles??

      • I used them once for buying a digital camera. They shipped using Fedex (or DHL, can't remember), it was here within 2 days.
They gave me a lot of free gifts, just to make me happy (lens cleaner, small pocket for the camera…)

    • I'm sorry, CitiWide will add a $40 shipping/handling fee later during checkout. Bastards.
      Kogan is cheaper then!

  • Is this international warranty? or Samsung Australia warranty?

The S3 is way too expensive for an outdated phone. For $539 plus $19 delivery you can get the latest and greatest Xperia Z, much better phone and much better value for money

    • How is it outdated? for a phone that has been released for around a year, it has quad core and 2gb ram which still beats most standard android phone with pretty much unrivaled quality compared to other android phones.

  • Very tempting with reduced price.

    Decisions, decisions… arrrgh!

      ah, double posting… :S

  • Everyone who's saying 4G model is better, being outside of a 4G zone myself I'm all for the 2G RAM but I've heard it's a different ROM and will suffer from 3rd party support, ie they won't bother with it, for those who like to root and customise their phones.

Can anyone confirm if this is true? That'd turn me off it if it is.

  • I am getting quite itchy to pull the trigger now…oh so tempting.

  • Purchased one - the Wifi died in my phone over the weekend so there was a need, right? :)
Wondering when would they ship it - still scared about that 2-3 weeks…

    • Received it today - some French telecom has their apps all over it (cannot be removed :)
One thing I did not know previously: Woolworth mobile (prepaid) does not allow you to use 4G (yet). So, I could have just ordered the non 4G. Bad luck :)

      • I disagree. The Samsung S3 4G version (i9305) has 2GB of RAM whereas the S3 3G version (i9300) only has 1GB RAM.

So for this alone you've actually done very very well in choosing the S3 4G version. (Not to mention your option for use of 4G when travelling overseas or here in the future.)

  • I bought one from Thinkofus the other day for $413 delivered. 2-3 weeks to arrive though.

  • I bought one form Kogan and it took 6 days to arrive. But seal was broken and cannot plug the charger.
