Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera DMCFH8 16MP RRP $199 Now $98 at Harvey Norman

121

Seems to be a good price compared to JB at $129.
I checked most capital cities and these seem to be in stock at a lot of places.

  • I haven't found any professional reviews that go into detail into e.g. image quality, but there are a number of Amazon Reviews. These reviews are mainly positive (4.5/5), with some complaints about image quality.

BTW, when browsing amazon reviews, you'll see something like "/ref=…&tag=testfreaks-20" at the url. You should trim this because it is not needed and AFAICT OzBargain thinks that if ref= appears in a url it means that it is a referral link.

After the last Harvey Norman debacle with the Sony DSC-TX20 camera (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94772) I refuse to purchase anything from them ever again regardless of how good the deal is. They took our money, sat on it, never delivered any camera, then claimed they couldn't get stock, and eventually refunded money. Poor performance from a shoddy organisation.

    • That's a bit different than walking into a store and picking up one of these. Youre attitude towards HN doesn't make this any less of a deal. Not really worth the neg, but hey, its a free planet.

mm I guess you're right. It is still a deal I suppose but then that was implied in my previous comment where I stated "regardless of how good the deal is". And although it is OzBargain, not "OzGripe with Gerry Harvey", people should still be aware of how a retailer treats people as well. It won't be such a deal if the same thing happens again. The last HN camera offer was a good "deal" as well, it was just one that didn't turn out so well for most of us OzBargainers. The last deal was also supposedly available in-stores as well, just that most stores only had a max of 1 or 2 in stock (if any at all). Just trying to warn people, so I'm sorry for trying to do the right thing and look out for my fellow OzBargainers. People are better off aware than unaware I think. They can then make up their own mind.

I got this camera from HN for $99 about a month ago for my parents, good automode, no need for flash in many situations which result in better pictures but only average image quality anyway. Good battery life and recharges from the usb cable (no separate battery charger). If you choose the black one, make sure it's not 14MP

  • It was $59 during Super Weekend in Feb
