Good deal, especially if it is of similar performance/quality to my Sipik-branded zoom torch.

Any chance of a deal for the silver-coloured version?

  • -3

I have an invoice for two of those….. Please advise

      • +2

Hi,we will send the two items that you ordered for the advertised price.

  • Pardon my silly question but what does "1 * AA / 1 * 14500 3.7v" mean?

You need 1 AA AND a 14500 or is it 1 AA OR a 14500?

    Help appreciated.

    • +2

It'll accept one of either. The batteries are both very similar in form factor, it's just the chemistries (and hence voltages) that are different.

    • 14500 are lithium ion batteries that are similar to AA but operate at 3.7v.

The result is a brighter/more powerful light that is rechargeable!

$3.65 AUD for me via PayPal.

    • $3.75 AUD for me with PayPal; how'd you get it 10c cheaper? (Doesn't PayPal force you to use their exchange rate?) :)

      • +2

If you fund your PayPal account via credit card, you can choose to allow either PayPal or your credit card to carry out the conversion.

        • how?i never take notice on it.

        • Wow, thanks… I never realised they had that option (it's kinda hidden)… time to add my 28 Degrees card to my PayPal account! (For my other credit cards, the PayPal rate is probably better anyway.)

        • +2

@brongz: When checking out with your credit card-linked PayPal account, click the 'Other conversion options' link under 'Payment methods'.

You can then choose how the transaction will be processed in terms of currency conversion.

        • note that. but the currency rate for cc not shown, like paypal rate. hmmm, dilemma…btw thx @greeguava

        • @brongz: If you have a CC that doesn't charge currency conversion fees (eg 28 Degrees Mastercard), then the conversion rate is very close to the live rate shown on www.xe.com, and is almost always better than the rate offered by PayPal.

        • Brongz, there is a reason that the conversion rate is not shown. And that is because exchange on CC isn't under Paypal's control. Your bank controls the exchange rate.

For example, since I am with NAB, I have to pay a 2.5% "Multi Currency" transaction fee on top of NAB's exchange rate. However, it still works out to be cheaper than Paypal's ripoff exchange rate!

        • Change the currency units to AUD on banggoods website

  • I found that mini cree torches like this get very hot after only a few minutes. So hot that it's unsafe to handle, making them useless.

    Anyone else experience the same?

Also, from the name of your store, are you guys an adult novelty store? You sell sex toys?

    • No, I use mine as a desk lamp, it doesn't last very long but it certainly doesn't get hot.

  • How do u charge the 3.7v lion li batteries?

    • You need a Li-ion charger that will take 14500-sized cells. Even though they look like AAs, you can't charge them in your regular NiMH charger.

  • I've got one & it gets REAL hot while using a 14500. Super bright, but obviously not incredibly efficient if it's wasting so much energy through heat.

  • +1

How about a deal with the charger bundled?

    • yup that would be nice. id definitely be in on that

  • +1

I cant even get the site to load :(

    • The page for the Black colour torch is overloaded, try the same torch in silver, the coupon code works for this torch too :)

    • Nope,still some left.

  • I would love to make an order, but you seem to have DDoS'd your own site :P

  • +1

For some reasons the link doesn't load in Google Chrome, but works fine in Internet explorer…

    • You are correct. As much as it pains me to open internet explorer, I thank you.

  • So this can't be used with normal AA?

    • where'd you get that idea when it even says in the description 1 AA ?

      • edit

    • (1 * AA /(SLASH) 1 * 14500)

    • Yes it can.

  • +6

  • Now I got a Q3 and a Q5 CREE torch… before this week I only had an Energizer Hard Case LED torch. Think I am all covered for torches now.

    • can never have too many torches.
when I go traveling with my wife I like to attach a torch to my hat. Makes everyone think I'm special and pisses my wife off.

  • +1

    Darn…
    Missed again :(

  • -2

No way it does 300 lumens on one AA

    • -1

Why am I getting down votes for this - it is just a fact that these cheap flashlights are actually never able to deliver on their promises and I hate false advertising.

  • You'll only be able to get near the rated 300LM with a good quality 14500 battery. With an AA, you'd be looking at ~100LM.

BTW don't buy any of those clothes from the linked site, most are of a quality not fit for sale (like some jeans will be made from a strange vinyl or PU material with a really bad VOC smell and single-stitched together with a polyester fibre or something), and the sizes run about two to three sizes down. Just saying from experience lol…

  • Mine arrived in the mail today

    • got mine, bloody bright for what it is and the price paid. different brand to the pics on the website but it does what it's meant to so I'm not fussed

  • Received mine today. Build quality is okay and is similar to my Sipik Q3, though I received my silver unit with some scratches. The CREE looks to be an XP-E as opposed to the XR-E that is in my Sipik.

Have not tested them side-by-side, but if this actually is a Q5 then I'd expect it to be brigher than my Sipik. Also, an unexpected benefit is that because the XP-E LED die is smaller than the XR-E, the lens is able to to focus the light a fair bit tighter than my Sipik, so the light beam is more focused.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it especially given the price, though in real life, I think personally the silver unit doesn't quite look as good as my black Sipik.

Thanks OP for the great deal. Maybe I'll buy a black one if this deal comes around again, though I'm not sure what I would do with three zoom flashlights… :P

  • Anyway to tell if this really is a Q5? It seems the same brightness as the Q3 I got from the tmart deal
