How does this compared with this one, it is much bigger $29.99 including shipping! https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/375947653896

    • A no-name/ no brand? Drop shipped on eBay?
No thanks :) I prefer my drop shipping closer to the source where possible.

But, but, their flashlight does 990000 lumens! And comes with a 10000mAh 18650 battery!

        • Absolutely frothing over the micro USB charging too. I love having to try and insert things multiple times.

  • Thanks op. Was looking at these earlier this week, almost pulled the trigger on a 28 buck Amazon "sale" Glad that I waited.

  • Putting this here but it is about the Sofirn SC18…yesterday I almost had a catastophe happen except that I noticed a burning plastic smell coming from my work bag. I had put my SC18 in there for travelling, and it had been there about a week. When I got to it after smelling that horrible electronics burning smell, the torch was so hot it burned my hand and was melting part of my bag that it was touching. I had to use a piece of cardboard to grab it out. I opened it up and it was smouldering inside the unit. The battery and casing were way to hot to touch and I am guessing minutes from casuing a fire.

What had happened was pretty clear whren it had cooled down. The battery spring for the postive terminal closest to the LED end had broken at some point, or burned out. Perhaps the torch had been accidentally switched on but it was not lit when I found it. The piece of spring was then floating inside the casing (at the correct end) but likely causing an arc to the driver board and this had started burning this out or just shorting the battery, perhaps against the sidewall. Up until this point this torch had been a great little unit but I would now have to say that this could happen to anyone and perhaps there is a design flaw. In other circumstances this could have caused a fire. I will also write this to sorfin.
