I saw this deal in the Hearld Sun on Sunday. Betfair will pay you $50 when you open an account and place a $50 bet. So basically, you can place a $50 bet and get $50 back from Betfair whether you WIN or LOSE.

I'm not a gambler but this one seemed too good not to pay attention to. I can't see much downside unless you are a problem gambler and can't trust yourself once you've opened an account.

Due to legislative requirements, NSW residents are not eligible to receive this offer.

    $50, no strings attached for free is great. Really boggles the mind how the culture on Ozbargain is anti-gambling yet is fine with alcohol deals. Strange place to draw a line in the sand.

      When I saw this promo, I thought great - I can put $50 on my footy team this year and if I don't win no problems - Betfair will give me back my $50.

      lol.. I didn't see it from that view. Quite simply, with all gambling, regardless "how much" they willing to pay you, you "may" win and .. you "may" lose.. and worse, you "may" lose "more" that you bargained for :)

    This is great. Bet $50 collectively over many games (English Premier League or anything else)
    You will then either win some games or lose completely
    24 hours later, Betfair deposit $50 in your Betfair account
    You withdraw the $50 (or more than $50 if you have won some bets)
    Delete your account once you have received your money
    I can't see how you can lose…

    However just make sure you read the terms and conditions, which state "If you are eligible, in order to obtain the free bet incentive you must have matched bets with a total value of equal to or more than the free bet offer. The matched bet amount is based on the backer’s stake. For back bets this is the stake amount entered for your bet(s). For lay bets this is the size of the backer’s stake and not the liability taken. Unmatched or voided bets will not be counted towards your total value. Bets placed on Tote products will not be counted towards your total value."

    EDIT: Also, "17. If you use Moneybookers to fund your account you will not be eligible for any free bet or matched bet promotion. "

    yes more than one bet is allowed, as long as you reach $50 they will credit $50 back
