Just happened to shop for some Easter eggs and found this offer at Coles Malvern (Victoria). It's label says "Best before 9 Dec 2013". Not sure when the 'quick' sale ends. I guess sale over when it's all gone.

Get it if you do lots of asian cooking and happen to be there.

        Yeeeeaaah. Might want to… get some hands-on experience before making that call; you'll come to find Fish Sauce to be a delightful fragrance by comparison.

    Mm that sauce is normally in a glass bottle.

    But aside from that it's a good sauce, and is neutral enough to be OK for most recipes (they vary in taste between nationalities).

      yeh I've heard the south american squid prefer to eat their shrimp with a little salt whereas the Greenland squid prefer them chilled

      It's better that its in a plastic bottle. If you ever drop the glass bottle in the kitchen/car/etc the smell would annoy the hell out of you.

        Everyone knows Coke for instance, tastes better out of a glass bottle than from a can or a plastic bottle, and there's a very good reason for that.

        Plastics have things called leachates; which can affect the taste of many things stored within them and possibly have harmful effects on your health with cumulative consumption.

        Nothing beats good ol' glass when it comes to taste.

        Why do you think most laboratory equipment is all glass, even in this day and age? They can't afford the possibility of residual leachates contaminating other compounds/liquids.

    It's the best fish sauce available for a couple of dollars. At 50c it's a steal, plastic glass whatever :D

    I often use tuna oil that you buy in tackle shops to coat my bait in before i go fishing. This is way cheaper I wonder if it will work…

      Yep. Pretty sure it was up the back of the soft drinks aisle where it hits the dairy section. I went to grab one thinking it was a 50c fruit juice than then saw 'fish sauce' on it and put it right back. Not a fan of the stuff but a very good bargain for those who are.
