disc repairs, thats your go to fail for this bike.
You mean the disc (brake?? I have no bike exp) isnt good? How about just for novice and leisure use?
This should be good for novice and leisure use. Better quality than KMart or BigW bikes.
Is it alloy or steel frame?
google ! or even calling the store might answer your question.
This is a good deal for this bike.
If however your a real cheepie tight-ass then go out and get one of those KMart or BigW bikes which are of course cheaper but also lesser quality. If that was ever a $500 bike, it's no wonder they've dropped the price so dramatically, because they can't have been selling any.
I'm all in favour of good quality cheap bikes, but you can do better than this for $200.
From a quick glance at the photo and specs, it seems to be essentially a $89 BigW bike with extra gimmicks.
Suspension at this price point does not work - it just adds weight and flex. Disc brakes at this price point are a scary prospect. You're better off without either; instead, if you want to spend $200, you could get a bike with better frame or components.
You'll get a much, much better bike if you can spend $500 or more, but if you're only in the $200 market, then get something with rigid forks and "V-brakes" (straight brake arms attached to the forks, operating on the rims). Simple and reliable, and more likely to be ridden than $200 garage wall ornament like this.
I am not an expertise but enjoy riding road bikes. I have used and abused two fluid bikes in the past and they both lasted more than three years each. I think fluid bikes are good quality bikes for an avarage people. It is no comparison Carbon Road Bike (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96470) if you have so much money to spend. At the end you have a friendly service at anaconda and a bike with a year warranty for $199. It is well worth it.
Calling this boat-anchor a $500 bike is an insult to our intelligence.
The frame is crappy hi-ten steel, like a $99 K-mart bike. You can see the specs for the non-disc version here:

$199 should be the normal price, and still not a good idea.
Go to Big-W or LBS. 18 speed is as good as 21 when its only a 14-28 range. If you're looking for a cheap bike for casual weekend rides (not road etc.), don't get a mountain bike (and particularly not a cheap one!)Check www.bikeexchange.com.au first. You'd be surprised at some of the prices your LBS will do on runout models. Get a hybrid bike, can handle hills and gravel, but also a comfortable road\path ride. The wider the tires, the more work you have to do to move. You may pay $100 more, but you'll also get a bike that you are much more likely to ride more than once.
Or if just want a cheap friggen bike just get one for $79 @ Kmart :P
Hi.
I purchased a bike from dealsdirect.
Spectrum Mountain Bike - 26 Inch Alloy Frame 21 Speed Disc Brakes
Price $199
Biggest piece of rubbish manufactured from china.Bike came shipped with incorrect and missing parts.
Correct parts were shipped 2 weeks later….just sat in garage…could not use.
Quality of manufacture absolutely terrible.
Disk brakes do not work when correctly adjusted….
Gears do not shift when correctly adjusted….
Handle bar stem bolts tightened with torque wrench…..still has play.
Spokes are corroded… can see from color.
This bike was new and sealed in box unopened.
Do not buy online bikes…go see in person…my mistake.Anaconda fluid vector.
For 200 bucks with helmet u cant go wrong.
Cheaper and better quality than Department store bikes with same features.
Shimano and tektro brakes quality name but low end models.
Bike is manufactured well I can't complain……ten times better than above bike.
Free helmet with built in LED light…..great…..Worth buying.
I can see riders spending more on disc repairs than the bike….but good deal none-the-less.
