      Someone's a rep!

I don't think the quality as as good as the Logitech.

      • logitech, quality. LMAO

    • but not the same.

  • +4

    Logitech is much well known.

  • Just bought my second TV and setting up media portal. THANKS.

    • cheers :)

      • You know what I saw your post just after I paid for my second TV and about to go to pick up.

So I went to OW price matched and went back to store to pick up my TV.

        Very good timing.

I have this keyboard on my first TV and very nice.

Yep the few Shintaro (even blank media) items that I've purchased in the past have been complete rubbish.
For the extra few dollars get the Logitech.

    • Agree. Purchased a Shintaro cordless mouse with charging station. The device was rubbish. Did not even work out of the box. Mouse pointer just kept scrolling to the side of the screen. Ended up chucking it in the bin. Now always buy Logitech for remote, keyboard, mouse and gaming. So much more reliable and excellent build quality.

    Looking for a K800 ~$ 99

  • This Logitech keyboard works nicely with my Mac Mini plugged into the TV, and my couch is approx 5 metres away. I had to plug the unifying receiver into a nearby USB Hub (i'm guessing there was too much signal loss with the USB dongle being wedged between the rear of the mac-mini and the brick wall of my unit). That aside, it's a perfect media-centre-PC keyboard and at a great price!

Take it from me, having bought & used many many brands of mice/keyboards - don't touch the whoflungdung brands.
You get what you pay for (if you're lucky), so go for decent quality and get painfree reliability.

I've owned and used Logitech AV and IT products for years and they just do what you expect. They cost more than many but it's worth every penny. When things do go wrong under warranty they also honour those warranties with replacement keyboards and mice - no fuss unless you don't have proof of purchase (then it gets tricky but not immpossible).

If you don't like buying on EPay, Logitechshop has their own website. They often have specials on their site that don't hit EPay.

I have got mine from the DSE deal before. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89490
Very nice keyboard for your media PC worth to buy.

  • Does anyone know/Reccomend a good source to go to to work out if multitouch works (ie pinch to zoom) for Android TV Sticks like the MK808 or even more importantly the GK802? (http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Unii-GK802-Fresscale-i-MX6-Qu…)

    Cheers,
    -rui

    • I use it with my android phone (Xperia Acro S) via USB otg, pinch to zoom does not work for with the touchpad in my experience. 2 finger scrolling works.

I use one on my HTPC. Highly recommended.

  • Does this work for PS3?

  • +3

    I own one
Has to be the best bed accessorie I own
Price is normal has been fluctuating between $35-$45 for a while now.

  • I do want this, but I've already got my HTPC working with the Logitech Harmony One and it works rather well, but a mouse would be handy. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

    • I have the same. This keyboard is also great for surfing the web using the TV as the screen. I'm using Win8+MC.

I bought a couple of these the other week from their website for use in the classroom. Needing to replace some crappy Shintaro and Rock models - we've been using these for years as they're provided as a package but they're absolute rubbish.
So far these Logitech keyboards have made an amazing difference due to their light but strong frame and the wireless signal extends at least up to the rated 10m range (double classroom with no walls).
I would strongly recommend these, especially if you're looking to upgrade from the "whoflungdung brands" (thanks rayski57) however I'd like to request that you don't all go out and buy them as I'm pretty sure I'd like to get another dozen at this price.

    • Yeah I bought the Shintaro few years ago http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/97204 at first is OK but the touchpad on and off stopped working and finally completely stopped.

And I am using this logitech now great keyboard and just bought another one.

Good keyboard, got it from an earlier deal.

  • Those who have this already - what is the wireless distance like?
I know it says 10 metres but can anyone confirm? Reason I ask is because I have a cheap RII mini keyboard that wireless drops out at about 2m from the receiver, which is very annoying as I bought it to use from my loungechair (3ms away)
    thanks!
edit: thanks cartman - you have answered my q!

  • It takes 2 AA's in case anyone was wondering like I was.

I used to own the older model Shintaro keyboard with the trackball (http://goo.gl/ZGc6H) but after a while the left click stopped working. I've replaced it with a Lenovo mini wireless keyboard (http://goo.gl/lTLyt). It's nice and small but hard to type on (not really a problem when using it with my HTPC) and it has a track ball if you prefer that.

  • Great keyboard, surprised by how solid it is. Mine was a bargain at $45. Kids haven't broken it yet.

  • Is this full sized or one of those mini things?

  • take note that there is a refreshed version called k400r

there are subtle differences between the 2, google about it

  • @fchis
Excellent I have been looking for something like this for ages.. My Google powers must be failing!

For some reason I can not reply to fchis..

  • Looks like a good deal. Just tried to price match at officeworks in Clarence St, Sydney.
Was rudely told they won't match EBay stores.
Couldn't see any clause in their terms and conditions to indicate this though.

  • I can't see any play, pause, rew, ff and stop buttons? Is this suitable for a HTPC?

    • +1

K400R (the updated version) has play/pause, rew, ff and the volume controls (in addition to windows 8 shortcuts) on the Fn keys.

in fact, the media controls are the main keys, and you need to hit Fn + F5 (etc) to use the Fn keys (i'm pretty sure Alt-F4 works without hitting Fn though).

i'm undecided on which i prefer (i have K400R from the $35 DSE deal posted in a comment above).

also, the shortcut keys at the top are different:

      K400 / K400R

      mute / music
      vol down / home
      vol up / lock pc
      home / pc power

    • answered above.

    • +1

      to answer your question though:

if you're using the HTPC as a dedicated media centre (with XBMC or something), i think K400 might be better, because you can just use the keyboard keys to control media (spacebar for play/pause, arrow keys for ff/rew), and you have easily identifiable quick access volume shortcut keys.

if you are using it for media and computing/browsing, i think the dedicated media keys on the K400R are handy (for example, for controling music playback in the background while you're doing other things on the computer).

although, if you are doing a lot of general computing on it, then the Fn keys on the K400R would be a bit of a hassle (having to use the Fn key all the time). so really, it's neither here nor there…whatever will annoy you less!

      just my 2c…

      • This is a good link to show the differences :
        http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id…

You make some good points but still confused as which one I should get. I have a Windows 8 HTPC (with XBMC) but dont need the volume controls as I use an amp.

Maybe the K400R as the touchpad has better gesture support which may come in handy.

        • yeah, if you don't mind have the Function keys doing double duty (requiring the you to use the Fn key), then go for the K400R i reckon. it's configured for windows 8, and has more gestures (and you have no use for the volume shortcuts).

  • price matched @ OW - Thanks!

  • I bought this and not really happy with it.

The left click on the touchpad is not really responding. I have to press it a bit harder to get it working.

    • yeah, it's a commonly reported issue with this keyboard (the spacebar too).

you get used to it…it's a tradeoff for the (otherwise) convenience of the package.

logitech should have fixed those buttons, and made the media controls a row of dedicated shortcuts along the top (or had an Fn lock switch/toggle for the row of Fn keys). and backlit the keys. that would make it a pretty ultimate HTPC keyboard!

as it stands, it's still a great HTPC keyboard (with a few faults/annoyances)!

  • This deal has been shown on my website for a very long time……..Cannot deny that it is really a good price

  • As a reference, Bing Lee had the K400R on sale for $34 (w free shipping) during the weekend.

  • Caved in. Thanks!

  • I own one, and can confirm its good for typing

  • Wow, JUST realised logitechshop is Fluidtek. Missed these guys.

  • just bought one for the HTPC that I never get around to setting up. Cheers

I have a love/hate relationship with this keyboard. It's the right size for typing and it has a full size trackpad, it's light and relatively well built, however the keyboard is too squishy and the trackpad is finicky. I use one daily, as far as I can find there is nothing else like it but I'm still always keeping an eye out for a better quality alternative. As far as I can find there isn't one.

    I can begrudgingly recommend.

    • I agree the keys are just too small for touch typing, very much like a netbook. The touchpad requires force to click the buttons… and oh my god if you use the right shift key ever dont get this because its in the wrong spot and you'll continuously be pressing the up arrow.

Other than that works well for one or two word typing and moving the mouse on a HTPC. I prefer to use an app now like Mobile Mouse for iOS and Android to control my HTPC using a phone. Works one handed.

  • Recommend for use on a HTPC!

  • Not bad, paid an extra $5 for the R model

    • I was looking at the K400R, as it seems more compatible with Windows 8. But I couldn't find it at $45? Just wondering where you purchased from?

  • got one from OW, thanks

  • Thanks for this.
Got a K400 from OW Doncaster, VIC pricematched and beaten by 5%.
Here's a receipt scan should some one need it:
    http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/6366/logitechk400.png

  • I placed my order at 16:52.

First AAE scan from processing centre at 19:22.

    Excellent, should have it tomorrow.

AAE says priority is 'Express Premium'.

Not bad for free shipping. Good deal.

  • Ordered one too. Planning on leaving an old PC hooked up to the TV.

    Cheers OP.

why are ppl making a fuss.. these have been at this price for a year

  • One of the cheapest feeling LT keyboards I've used

  • That was SERIOUSLY impressive. I bought it yesterday after 5pm and I have it in my hands now! Thank you!

  • Pricematched and beaten by 5% at OW Clarence St. Sydney
Used the previously posted OW receipt. Got accepted on the spot! Win!

  • +2

Got it for $22.80 from OW Clarence St Sydney after pricematched from Bing Lee ($24). Showed the worker the link below

    http://www.binglee.com.au/logitech-920-003109-k400-wireless-…

The site says out of stock online, but the search indicate that it still available in-store (eg. search 2000).

    Will upload receipt if needed.

    • +1

Yes, could you pls upload it. I will try it at OW in my area, Brisbane.

    • Thanks for that, absolute bargain! Extra 5% off with ING Wave & Save = $21.66.

I'm surprised how easy it is to get Office Works to price match; they will see me again!

  • There's no Bing Lee in Melbourne. Do you guys think OW will still price match?

I might give it a try tomorrow

    • How did you go in Melbourne

      • Got one at OW. The salesman said they do price match even if its in another state. But they will add up the delivery cost. But in this case it was free shipping on bing lee website therefore $0.

  • Damn bought too early, can I get the price difference back from OW?

    • Went back to OW and got the price difference :)

  • Does it also work for Apple Laptop, ipad or other Tablet PCs, please?

  • Officeworks on King Street Melbourne wouldn't price match this, their excuse was "we don't price match eBay since eBay is an American company" (regardless of the fact that it's on the eBay store of Logitechshop). Managed to price match the $45 it's listed for on Logitechshop.com.au, the few dollars didn't bother me too much (I guess I'm not a professional OzBargainer any more though :( )

    • Officeworks on King Street Melbourne is always hard to do price match. You may want to try the one on Collins street next time.
