Telstra Accepting PayPal Payments - Avoid 1% Credit Card Surcharge When Paying Your Bill

2000

You can now pay your Telstra bill via paypal.

You can use this method to pay via credit card to get your reward points, without paying the usual 1% credit card surcharge that Telstra charge.

When paying by Paypal choose the fund source as credit card then continue to pay your bill and you are done.

A good way of saving 1% of every bill you need to pay.

Did it yesterday without a problem, worked well :)

        • I dont know, I have always had AMEX cards in my account, i just added them like any mastercard credit cards. I am not sure why you guys are having problems?

Does it matter if my AMEX is from a bank and not from AMEX directly?

        • Think it used to be available, but can't add new ones…so I've heard. Anyway where the signup section for this is, no allowance for AMEX, just V and MC I think.

        • Is yours a USD account rather than AUD? That might explain it…

  • anyway to pay telstra business accounts without creditcard surcharge. Just tried, mine is 10 digit account, paypal required 13 digits. So didn't work.

  • can i use someone else credit card to pay my bill? or does the cardholder and account holder have to be the same?

    • I don't see why you can't add someone elses credit card to your paypal, once you go through the verification process it will be verified and ready to use.

Regarding using AMEX cards in paypal(australia), this is from Paypal Australia themselves

If you already registered an Amex Card before PayPal Australia had been
localised, you may use the card up until the expiration date of the
card. Once the card expired, you would not be able to use it or update
it. The only way is to add a Visa or MasterCard.

    • I just added one AMEX to my account with no issue.

Update! As per previous comment, PayPal now accepting American Express as of 2 days ago! Great news and means we can now pay our Telstra bills through PayPal funded by Amex without any fee :)

    • Thanks for the news, you should really add a separate post as it would benefit a tonne of people who would prefer earning more points on their cards :)

      • I would but someone already put it on the forums so I don't want to double post or step on someones toes? Not sure if accepting a new payment method would be classified as a deal? This current deal was a way to avoid a 1% surcharge, accepting amex is just another way in doing that. So didn't think it'd be best in my opinion.

  • Paypal now accepts payments, so no charge from Telstra and the 3 points kick WOOH! win!

  • I mean now accepts AMEX payments. ugh

  • Does this deal still work? Can't find a way to pay using PayPal on the Telstra app
