  • 2580 x 1080 (21:9), intriguing.

Split it in half: 2* (1290x1080) and you have two nice resolution screens to multi task with.

I would most likely find that more useful then Dells 30" screen.

  • vs:3840Ă—2560 (panasonic) should be bout [2 mp] /20% of the pixels.

some one check ppi , mysterious.

    • Panasonic = 230 PPI, MBP Retina = 220 PPI.

I suspect that a 20" screen with that res would be close to unusable at native res. The 15" retina display is gorgeous for photo work and font smoothing but at its native resolution fonts and UI elements are squint inducing.

If you are interested in the Dell 29", go visit a Harvey Norman to check out the LG that uses the same panel (and only for double the price!) It's an interesting option, but I would have missed the extra vertical resolution of a regular widescreen display. Instead I opted to buy a Samsung S27A850D from Umart for $559 - pretty good for a PLS panel (very similar to IPS) with 2560x1440.
