MOD: Also from the terms:

"Raw" domestic fares must be purchased online using a MasterCard debit card issued by an Australian financial institution. The "Raw" domestic fare does not incur payment of the AUD8.50 booking fee associated with credit card purchases per passenger, per flight sector. Payment by Visa or MasterCard credit cards or international debit cards is permissable subject to payment of this fee.

So you can purchase with credit card, but would be $8.50 more per flight.

  • so hard to find the $10 flights

    • +1

It's not really, just avoid school holiday periods and make sure you look between Tuesday and Thursday.

  • +6

I was about to post this, but it's already here.

Don't forget to pricebeat with JetStar…
$9 flights, 10KG carry-on included and NO BOOKING FEES.

    • +23

If you don't support Tiger when they have these deals, you'll no longer see prices like these if they stop operating.

When Tiger were grounded, JetScum and the rest were much more expensive than Tiger was.

      • -3

But I AM actually supporting Tiger by making Jetstar do the price-match.
Everyone knows these airlines can't possibly make any money out of such cheap tickets.

        • +6

? So you give Jetstar 9 dollars, and 0 dollars to Tiger. And you're supporting Tiger… how?

        • Because Jetstar would be copping the loss rather than Tiger (is what I'm assuming cbpeh1 meant).

        • +8

And again - assuming both pay salaries and all the other overheads, and that both planes take off, Jetstar loses (cost to run that flight) - 9 dollars, and Tiger loses (cost to run that flight).

And you're supporting Tiger how? I don't understand people's logic sometimes, and those that subscribe to it.

Mind you, I dislike Tiger - but I agree with Arctic Monkey's statement. Going with Jetstar is in NO WAY supporting Tiger.

        • +4

I like Tiget simply because it keeps the industry competitive…

        • +1

But you could argue equally convincingly that pricebeating supports Tiger. Someone else will take the seat so Tiger gets a full plane anyway, and Jetstar is out of pocket.

        • when the sale is over, the prices will go back to normal prices. Hence, customers will pay higher prices, and it offsets losses for Tiger?

        • +2

But really what we need is a high-speed rail network!

        • You need a new hobby.

      • Yeah because tired, underpaid and overworked pilots are exactly the people I want flying the plane I'm on!

  • +5

Bend Adelaide over a little more Tiger

    • +6

Trust me, you're better off haha

  • +9

$37 return SYD-MEL (including booking fee). Yay!

    • That's cheap!!

      • Yes that is cheap but a $17 booking fee is not usual is it?

IN any case, as mentioned above, price beat with Jetstar and save the extra dollars?

  • fares must be purchased online using a MasterCard debit card

    :(

    • +1

If you read the full T's & C's:

"Raw" domestic fares must be purchased online using a MasterCard debit card issued by an Australian financial institution. The "Raw" domestic fare does not incur payment of the AUD8.50 booking fee associated with credit card purchases per passenger, per flight sector. Payment by Visa or MasterCard credit cards or international debit cards is permissable subject to payment of this fee.

ie: if you want to use anything BUT MasterCard debit, you just have to pay the booking fee and you're fine

    site is boned

  • Thanks. $40 return for two to Mackay it great.

  • the 3 days my son has kinder are the 3 days you can only book on! argh!

    • +13

Time to sell the son; he's holding you back from bargains.

  • +6

It is in our collective interest to book via Jetstar Pricebeat!

-more available flights, given 1hr flex for equivalent flights
-the seats on tiger will last longer, thus more time to pricebeat on Jetstar
    -$9 flights after 10% discount
    -$0 booking fee
    - no restriction on payment method

    The number is 1300 369 516

When Tiger were grounded, JetScum and the rest were much more expensive than Tiger was.

      Think long term.

      • Hmm relevent point. Only issue for me is the credit card fee for non-debit card's

      • +1

While I absolutely agree with you, as a past passenger of Tiger I am not willing to fly them. All I can do is take advantage of the price match while it is available.

      • I like it. "Think long term" You're obviously not a politician.

    • Does Virgin pricematch ?

    • +2

Yes, absolutely. As many OzBargainers as possible should price-match with Jetstar. It lessens the burden on Tiger and allows much more people to take advantage of this sale. Remember, Jetstar will only prime-match if the Tiger flight has free seats. If the Tiger flights get all booked out, no sale.

The Jetstar Price-match hotline is 1300 369 516 . It will take time to connect( currently 20 mins), but just place your home phone on speakerphone and go about your business. Their phone staff are friendly and efficient and no surcharge for credit card.

  • +2

Just did a price match with Jet Star $18 return SYD to MEL including booking fee :)

    • shouldnt it be $20 return .. is it a price match or Price beat by 10%
.. Im planning to do the same.. thanks for the tip

      • yes jetstar will be any price by 10% bring the price down to $18

        • -1

awesome pana .. thanks time to call JetStar .. Thanks to Tiger… Thats the Price of a 6 pack. cool

        • +1

I would rather fly Jetstar anyday.

BTW no haggle no questions "yes sir we can beat that price" I love that.

        • Edit: Booked BNE - SYD - MEL - SYD - BNE over 10 days for $36 with Jetstar.

          Thanks a lot. Fantastic Deal!

  • +2

I flew Tiger once, NEVER again.

    • +1

I once said that after turning up at the airport to find that they had cancelled the route after the grounding of all their flights, but this is too cheap to miss.

      • I'm 195cm, I couldn't actually fit in the seat. I had to splay my knees out into other people to fit.

  • Just booked 8 tickets MEL-HBA-MEL for just $160 damm cheap…now I need to find the accommodation back in Hobart..

  • Booked..Amazing Prices!! Just booked up for DEFQON 1 in Sydney for september. Saved over $100 compared to regular prices.. thanks.

  • Make sure you book checked in luggage if there is any chance you will exceed 10 kg otherwise they will whack you with a $75 charge for 15 kg. I was under but my companion had been shopping :(

    • +1

If you do go Shopping .. Send it via TNT or Australia Post back home. Cheaper than $75 the airlines charge

      • That's useful to know only in hindsight. :(

  • Comment above mentions Jetstar has 10kg carry-on, does Tiger not allow any carry on or something?
    Never flown with them before.

    • Carry on allowance is 10 kg per pax and they enforce it.

  • 10m passengers. That's lovely. Guess none of them were going to Perth ;)

Dont take it literally, it's just that Tullamarine & Singapore are only flights that connect to Perth :(

  • +3

Just keep in mind that you will need to research the Jetstar times comparable to Tiger flight times.

They won't do it for you, as they don't want to encourage pricebeat behaviour.

If you try to do it on the phone, they get impatient and ask you to call back again when you have the comparative flights

    • Can't you just call them and ask if they have a flight around a particular time and then say you want to do a pricebeat?

  • +5

I hope these deals are around in 30 years when I'm retired and free to travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

    • +4

Hopefully in 30 years we should just ask "Beam me up, Scotty"

  • +1

Price matched with Jetstar…saved $2000 - not that I would have ever booked the $2000 flights.

    • +5

Where are you going to…the moon?

      • Close…Hobart

  • how come i get a booking fee of $68 ? please advise :)

    • sorry i got it ….i had to select the master debit while paying for it :)

  • By mistake, I brought using my Credit Card by selecting Master Debit Card and it went through..

The system says that the itinerary is confirmed but I wonder if I will receive my PDF confirmation!

    • Have a look at your statement .. i guess you will be charged the booking fee

      • I have received the confirmation and have also double checked my statement and can confirm that I have NOT been charged a booking fee..

  • they do allow a baggage of 10 kg, don't they ?

    • Carry on board 2 pieces upto 10 kg

  • Would love some of these dates to extend til the end of september

  • +1

funny thing is infant on lap is $30. the seat and lap is only $10 :)

  • thank you for the post. booked for me and 3 year old return to syd from bris for only $36. a holiday we wouldnt have otherwise had. really appreciate it. (Did it through jetstar since we dont have a debit mastercard)

  • +1

This is to good to pass up…I wonder if jetscum will let me user that voucher they gave me after they stuffed me up, lied to me and failed to inform me that they had a hefty call centre fee for calling then to fix a mistake made by their online system….

  • Price Beat with Jetstar no issues, had to wait 12 mins on hold, the girl on the phone seemed very aware of the current Tiger special ;).

  • +1

what's bullshit is the airtrain/bus to the airport is three times the bloody price of the airfare… what a disgrace.

  • Booked !!!!

    syd to GC x 2 ..$36

thaks buddy, tried to book for mackay but dates didnt suit :(

  • This is too good to pass up…
    Oh wait, I have work

  • +2

Thank you! 2 adults and 2 kids bris-Sydney return for $72 bargain!!

  • Lady I spoke to at Jetstar wouldn't price match Mackay because it's not a direct flight. Anyone else get this? All good, got 2 people Syd-Mel locked in for $36 return. Thanks Mousey!

    • +1

That's what they said to me too and they had a earlier flight which was " unavailable" for some unusual reason. The sale consultant couldn't find a way around so booked to GC instead :-)

  • Good deal OP, I think some more of the people above who have taken advantage should vote +ve to show appreciation..

  • Thanks OP..just got flights from Syd to Melb for two adults return with 20kg baggage for $86 with Jetstar price match. Operator at Jetstar said they have been flat out tonight with this price match

  • Did any one got confirmation Email and/or itinerary from Jet Star?

    • takes up to 72 hours when using price beat guarantee (although mostly overnight as it does a reconciliation).

    • Confirmation comes after 72 hrs but I got a booking confirmation

    • +1

You can check your booking online with your email address and booking reference. At the moment mine states Amount Owing: $224.00 AUD :) 3 cheers for pricebeating!

  • I like tiger, but don't like it doesn't have a deal from Adelaide.

  • mm even if i went to sydney
do you guys know what i can do there?

    • Yeah, catch a $10 flight to somewhere else !!

    • +2

Did somebody say something about a Fire Truck?

    • how much extra did they charge?

      • $8.50 per flight.

        So, we 3 people, 6 flights = $51

Since it was my first time to book these bargain domestic flights, i was worried if i didn't book it fast it may sell out, so…

Oh well, maybe i see it as "tip" for Tiger Airways from the new customer!!!

    • Someone's not getting a Christmas present from Santa this year!

  • Anybody know if a prepaid MasterCard e.g. Woolworths prepaid MasterCard behaves in the same way as a MasterCard debit card? If not any recommendations on an account which offers a MasterCard debit card?

    • +1

Should do. As long as it has 16 digits and a CVV. (3 digit security code on back of card)
Also - NAB Classic Banking with Visa Debit Card. No account fees whatsoever.

  • Yay! $18 day trip to Melbourne for sales shopping! Thanks OP and Jetstar!

    • Careful that you don't exceed 10kg hand luggage if you didn't prepay for checked in luggage. Ah you edited that to Jetstar, well they're more lenient. Especially if you have used Web check-in and have your boarding pass already.

      • Or just box it up and post it to yourself.

        • +1

It's not so bad if you have prepaid, starts at $15 for 15kg, and you don't have to find a box and get grief with carding posties later, but woe be you if you didn't prepay, the price takes a big jump. And no you can't pull out your smartphone at the terminal and buy it there and then; pre-purchases close 72 hours before the flight.

  • Got mine - thanks OP & Jetstar. Averaged $22.50 a flight for a 3 night winter break - just add water & accomm. Stir gently & enjoy.
PS. So glad I checked-in to OzBargain last night :-)

  • Thanks OP. Price matched with Jetstar, MEL - SYD - MEL, depart on the evening of 8th August and return from Sydney on 13th August. 2 pax for $36 return.

  • Me and two friends booked a Syd-Gold Coast return flight price-matched through Jetstar for $19 each way.
    (+$15.50 each-way for 15kg baggage, +$5 for a window seat).
    Thanks!

  • ok I've booked a return flight. Don't know why cos I never actually make it to the airport to take these discount flights in the never-never. I wish they were transferable.

  • Has anyone received their itinery from jetstar yet?

  • I received mine the day after booking
