Saeco Lavazza "LatteMento" Milk frother (LM-166P) at Myer $48 WAS $129

60

Previously $129 and reduced to $48 (save $81).

• Frothing max: 150 ml
• Heating max: 250 ml
• Plastic body & lid; Soft plastic grip
• Non-stick coating inner bowl
• Interlock function
• Cordless
• AC220 - 240 V
• 420 - 500 W

Note: This has a 250ml capacity, not sure why they make the volume capacities so small. I've seen the Sunbeam frother (EM0180) that is also 250ml but it's still about $80. I've noticed the Breville milk frother (BMF600) has a 1 litre capacity although it's about $140.

Not sure why these are expensive to begin with, I bought a Lavazza modo mio premium coffee machine for about $160 and these came with them as a bonus, but then again detached milk frothers are usually more costly.

Microwave and ikea milk wand will do the same job for $3. Easier to clean as well

I've been doing just that with my $29 KMart machine. Best purchase of the summer so far.

  • I don't drink coffee but do people really pay that much for frothy milk?

    • haha, well coffee machines can cost up to $3000, not sure if you can fly after drinking from it.

    • Well, if you know any coffee snobs… we'll pay almost anything for good coffee.
Having said that, I wouldn't pay $10 for one of these.

i see its a good price compared to normal… just after spending 29 buck on the coffee machine from k mart (nespresso compatible) its just had to spend more than this on a milk frother
(though I do see value in frothed milk)

  • Too much hassle to froth. Just use milk from the fridge!

  • Bought this. Developed "blue" flashing light which meant that there was a failure. Got it replaced - same thing happened. Got it replaced again.

Third time lucky? - no way - same thing happened again.

3 Different Machines - 3x Blue lights. Guy at Good Guys said they've had a couple of replacements and suggested I change to Breville milk frother (BMF600)which I did. Working fantastic ever since.

    • I actually saw a post on whirlpool comparing a few different frothers and they recommended the Breville.

      • Yep, I bought the Breville on the weekend, it is fantastic. (It does two cups at once - 500ml)

        • I was also reading the whirlpool forums for detached coffee frothers. I've read a lot of failures for the Delonghi Aerocccino but i couldn't find much information on this one. From what i know a lot of detached coffee frothers actually break down easily after a while.

Btw i thought the Breville was 1 litre?

        • If there is a 1 litre model, I haven't seen it. The Breville I have is 500ml max (enough for two coffees).

The induction heating works so much better than the Nespresso Aeroccino, for example, which I previously owned two of. Both broke down within a year, and I had regular issues with the milk burning on the bottom. A pain to clean when you can't submerse the whole unit in water.

The Breville lets me control the temp, and is so easy to clean.

    • Maybe Saeco doesn't know how to make something under $500 and not be a piece of junk, but went ahead anyway.

      • The wonders of rebadging someone else's product!

We use the Aldi one. Costs $20 and it works a treat!

    • Same here!
My wife wanted a nespresso one and gave the Aldi a go, it seems a very good product for the price, can't complain.

      • The review I read on whirlpool included the original Aldi one and the current Aldi one.
They were quite happy with the original Aldi one, but felt the current Aldi one fell well short.
On another note Aldi has it advertised for $25 in the current catalogue.

I was considering purchasing a frother but I think I'll just get by with my wand and a jug.

        • I've got the current Aldi one, used it a couple of times and it seems fine. I think if you let it sit with the milk it tends to burn it a touch so it sticks to the non-stick surface a touch, but pour it straight away and it's fine. The heat mode seems to still froth it up a bit though. Maybe because I was using skim as opposed to fullcream milk I oly had skim in the house).

  • Woolies have one too that's not bad for the few times I've used it.
