Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 for $42 (VIC/QLD/WA only, after $40 cashback)

102

Officeworks is selling "Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000" (RRP $149.95) for $82.

ONLY AVAILABLE IN VIC/QLD/WA

During this period, Microsoft offers 25% cash back on the RRP til the end of Jan 2009, which is $40 (takes about 60 days to get that). That means you pay $82, and after cash back, you paid $42.

Even it is ONLINE ONLY Sales, I managed to price matched with HarveyNorman to get one.

It is a great mouse as it can switch between Bluetooth or 2.4Ghz wireless. The receiver can be used as a 1Gb thumb drive as well. (The driver reports as USB hub with thumb drive + wireless mouse attached).

(Edited by scotty — change title to add cashback info)

  • Tax advice on ozbargain? Awesome!

How about we leave the tax bizzo to those that can make use of it and post the actual price of $42? Instead of the misleading 'a few bucks'. I mean anything could be said to cost a few bucks after that treatment.

  • has anyone bought any of these?

  • hm… few bucks, but that means you have to be in IT company
if u want, you might want to consider changing the title so it's not too misleading for some people

  • i agree/

I am here to share a good bargain to everyone. Do I get a single cent out of this or anyone is paying me to do it? Why someone mad at me about the title?

For me, I am in a IT company which can put that as expenses. I just want to share what I found and get the best out of it.

I guess it is hard to satisfy everyone. One type of bread feeds many kinds of people.

As you wish, I changed the title and removed the tax part, hope that will make everyone happy.

    • my bad. didn't mean to spill it over to you.
i was only suggesting to amend the title, because few bucks means for everyone.
      anyway, it's still a good bargain !
      keep up the good work

So let me get this straight

    The mouse RRP is $149.95
The mouse costs $82.00 at OfficeWorks

So you pay $82.00 at OfficeWorks
Then mail in your claim to the Microsoft current promotion http://www.microsoft.com.au/hardware/offers/
Microsoft process your claim and deposit $40.00 in to your bank account

    So you pay $82.00 upfront
And after 60 days you have only paid $42.00

Hmmmmmm now if only I liked Microsoft mice ;)

    • Thanks Klif-e, your description is much better than mine.

  • The deal is good but when I tried to checkout it said no items in stock, and no backorder available, out of luck. :-(

    • Did you try price matching with HarveyNorman? I bought mine last week by doing so in Cannington branch.

MSY are selling this mouse for $69.

    http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Microsoft+Mobil…

So you would only pay $29 for the mouse after MS put the $40 in the bank. Surely this is a better deal than the OW one unless I'm missing something?

    • You are right, it is only $69 as long as it is not in WA. As always, W.A. users has way paid the highest price for stuff.

    • yeah, it is better as msy always selling it with crazy price.
lucky price match is always available.

    Double post sorry

  • Deal posted previously for SE Qlders, at $69 since 24 November, and from Umart, meaning you dont have to go all the way to MSY at Slacks Creek if you are not near there.

  • Just wondering, if the retailer can sell a product, which has RRP $149.95 for $69 and still making profit, what is the cost for the retailer? How much does Microsoft make for the other products, excluding software.

I provide tech support and do some sales. My wholesaler sells it to me for $88.53 (plus $9-12 courier). I don't know where places like MSY get their stock. A lot of places sell Logitech items cheaper than I can get it wholesale.

    • I had a mate who ran a small computing business and he said the same thing to me. In the end I said why don't you just buy it retail from MSY if its going to be cheaper. He did that for a while and then gave up the business cause he found a sugar mummy who pays for everything. Some people just have all the luck ;)

  • Has anyone bought anything form MSY and received the Microsoft cashback?
It seems like MSY are selling OEM products or Asian Microsoft products.
    Just a thought.

Complete BS, MSY is selling retail Microsoft product. I have received cash back from previous Microsoft Cash Back promotion for the Desktop 3000 set I bought from MSY.

    • +1

I did. And cashback received without any problem. The MS products are normal retail things.

  • Just got it price matched against MSY at Officeworks. $65.55 - $40 cash back = $25.55
Pretty good for something with a RRP of $150.

    • May I know which OW did you buy yours ?
