grab a 7950, i own one and it works flawlessly at a similar price.

According to tom's hardware, it ranks above the 660Ti also, but there are reasons people may prefer nVidia, so you can't do a direct comparison.

      That's what I did.

Bought my 7950OC for ~$340, and sold the 'Never Settle' bundled games for ~$70. Essentially a 7950OC for ~$270.

      • Do you still have a link for this offer?
        Thanks

    • or a pair of HD 7770 which performances nearly as good as 7970 ( in some game ), but cost less, use less power.

  • according to some benchmarks, for certain games (the nvidia "sponsored" ones) the 660TI runs comparably to the non OC 7970.

I dont think the one i got (MSI OC) is overclocked as much as the gigabyte/MSI twin frozr though. But thats fine by me as id rather it last longer than burn hotter

I think the main reason i went for the 660TI apart from i prefer nvidia is that in the games i know i was going to play (BF3 for example), the 660TI outperforms the 7970

Those benchmarks are 8 months out of date, AMD already released 12.11 "never settle" drivers that put even the 7950 ahead of the 660Ti in BF3.

The 7970 is head and shoulders above the 660Ti and even the Ghz edition beats 680. Good deal here for a quality Gigabyte but from a pure value perspective there is no reason to go Nvidia atm.

    • OC cards don't just run hotter any fool can overclock a card. OC cards are made specifically to run efficiently at a higher clock rate which also means more cooling so if you really want a long lasting card buy an OC model and put it down to stock clock rates.

  • Is it worth getting the 660ti over the 660 taking into account price And performance?

    • Very subjective. 660 isn't that much slower, how much this is worth to you really depends. I would suggest considering a 7870 though.

So many people suggest 7870. 660 is as good as 7870 stock, or OC'd if you know how, tom's hardware is wrong in putting it in the same tier with 7850. You can get over 1300Mhz clock rate if you're lucky, equal to if not better than highly OC'd 7870. 1250Mhz+ shouldn't be a problem at all for the 660 non-ti, with unlocked power target of 150% rather than 110% max. It can be done with a bios hack.

        • Toms hardware is far from the only review site placing the 7870 above the 660. I understand that the problem is more than just clock rate.

Of course if you are buying to overclock you are going to do your own research into what works best for your intentions.

  • very good price! but I prefer ASUS tho

  • mwave… pay a bit more and get it from somewhere trustworthy.

  • Seems like a good deal. But Poor me, just have to stick with the MSI480 reference.

  • I hear that the 7870 is great value.

  • Not really a deal, only 0.5% cheaper than everywhere else.
