To bad it's a Samsung AKA a boomerang as they always come back to the store.
I had one in my investment unit and within a month the tray wouldn't open and took it apart and could easily see why it failed, better to spend a little extra and get a Panasonic or Sony,Korean stuff is rubbish.

  • This is made in Indonesia

Still a poorly made Samsung with the cheapest components, buy one and it's only a matter of time until a laser fail to read or tray open failure.

  • That is true.

  • Can anyone confirm whether this has got Internet@TV option to install apps and whether Browser app can be installed?

as they are only $1 cheaper than eljo i wouldn't consider this a bargain. (can easily pricematch JB according to post above)

HN ARE PETTY! - Im quite sure its deliberate!

You prefer they should be a dollar more expensive??
You think price matching/beating is a bad idea??

      • no i think they could beat it by a bit more than 1 dollar, 1 dollar is pretty petty!

        • How much do you think they could beat it by?

Samsung Blu-ray players can't be trusted. They never issue updates. Please don't risk it!

    • why update if it's working properly?

      • I take it that you haven't dealt with Blu-ray discs much? Not all players (bar the Sony and Panasonicones) implement updates to the Blu-ray specifications properly. Samsung is one of the worst offenders when it comes to their implementations and update policy. Have a look at what happened to their BDP-1000 and 1200 models. There was even a class action lawsuit against them after they refused to update those players!

I'm afraid you took it wrong…the answer is much more than you can imagine. you can NOT generalize like this and compare apples to oranges! This is not a forum, someone has posted a deal about a specific brand, specific model Blu Ray Player. If you have something against this player i'm happy to accept your advice and i'll be the fist to thank you. So far my samsung player hasn't had any problems playing any of the discs i own so i'm happy with it! on the contrary my first Panasonic blu ray player had playback problems and got bricked during the first update(but i think this conversation belongs to forums) :)
          p.s. bdp-1000 was released in 2006(!)

All of my TV's and dvd-bluray players are Samsung, I use them and abuse them and never(almost) had problems. My only problem was my brand new 51" 3d tv that failed(no video only audio) within the first day and i got a replacement unit.
For that price it's a bargain, i've had problems with Panasonic devices in the past but i won't vote negative if a good Panasonic deal comes up ;)

I have tried this Bluray player, it was very slow to load discs and had issues choosing the correct resolution for the TV (when set to auto mode). In the end we took it back and replaced it with an LG BP-125 (or something like that) which was so much better; quick to load, very quiet mechanism and no display issues. The LG at the time was the same price as the Samsung (99$), but even at 99$ I think its worth paying the extra over this 69$ for the Samsung.

  • Only if you knew what your local retailer really thinks when you choose Samsung.
