Was looking for a bike rack for my VW. VW sells these for $400 ea so thought $239 ea locally was a good deal until I found a twin pack from the UK for just over $200 with postage to Australia.

  • How much was postage? Also, are you sure you have done the currency conversion correctly? £153 would be closer to $231 before postage.

    • Comes up as $200.91Aus with free shipping . Probably if you put your location in you will get the VAT taken off .

      • Save VAT and free shipping. Sweet.

These are from Big W and cost less than half with free delivery . Not as fancy but would do the job .
You have to take the front wheel off but probably no more fluffing around than the these chain reaction ones .
A good deal either way and no doubt many hundreds less than local bike shops .

    • good deal for those with unicycles…

Actually look solid. The review is a classic. The guy says he purchased at big W to save money then mentions he put them on a BMW X5, but then had to buy locks as these cheap ones don't come with locks.

        What's a 'life partner' ?

      • I "Found this review helpful" I have a feeling that the 10 of 13 number will have changed substantially by tommorow…

    • There are lots of cheaper alternatives, torpedo 7 sells ones cheaper than the Bigw regularly but these are comparable in quality with the Thule racks for considerably less. You also don't need remove your wheels each time with these.

    • The frame clamp is a really good idea.

My bike was in a Big W style rack yesterday and the front wheel popped out on a bumpy road. The two other bikes using a system similar to the OP were fine.

  • I thought they only made pens and watches!! Guess I was wrong then.

  • Will these attach to Thule bars?

    • Yes, come with a variety of attachments. Roof rack city sells them locally if you want to double check.

  • Looking one for my Lexus too.
$261 ea delivered at Lexus Blackburn.

The first one looks like a Thule rack, probably the most common used and generally the usual price for these but have seen then down to $200 each. The other two look identical to the models that Torpedo 7 sell (I started with the first one before upgrading). The Mont Blanc quality is closer to the Thule ones and one advantage I read before buying it that it will hold the bike upright before you lock it in due the deep chasm at the front. For $100 per rack I still think the MB is the better deal for a quality rack.

      • Thanks kiber. I will order that twin Pack.Have a good day

  • Do you already need roof racks on your car to utilize this? Or is the roof rack included?

  • You need the roof racks to fit that bike carrier. If your car already have roof rails you will fit the roof racks (you have to buy it) to it and then bike carrier.my Lexus came with factory fitted roof rails only so I bought the roof racks to fit the bike carriers.
