Manfrotto MKC3 H01 Compact Ball Head Tripod $59.95 Pickup $9.95 Ship

90

This is a pretty good price for the Manfrotto MKC3 H01. Manfrotto calls it a photo/movie tripod as it can be locked to only rotate left-right. It's not exactly a fluid head though!

The weight limit is 1.5kg so it's perfect for an entry-level DSLR, mirrorless camera, flash, or small video camera.

  • Good for entry level dslr or point and shoot. Legs will bend if you try to put a 5D or D800.

    • +4

I think those who can afford a 5D or D800 really shouldn't be looking at $59 tripods. ;)

It would hold a flash for the 5D/D800 just fine though!

    • Damn, only 1.5kg Max load. Saw this popup on the twitter feed and hoped it was something I could put a Velbon PH-368 Fluid Head onto for a basic GH2 rig. Definitely a no go, small cams only.

  • Got one of these, is pretty good, only thing missing is a level.

  • My first tripod, it held up my 5d mkii with 17-40 f4L easily, just don't use it at full extension, most of the times I used it was for seascape stuff so I only used the minimum height. Awesome tripod, and great price, I bought it for $90. The only reason I stopped using it was because it got stiff from too much sand going on it lol.

  • I've got the version without a handle head and realistically it is pretty bad when fully extended, but on the other hand it is SO DAMN LIGHT you don't have any problems taking it anywhere.
I tend to use it for walks and travel but not extending the legs or stem to make it more steadier and it does the trick well enough for a long shot.

  • I have one of these. Its portability is great as it's light and can fit in a small suitcase, but as hinted at in eug's description, it's far from ideal for video because the head doesn't move fluidly when slowly panning - below a certain panning speed, it becomes stuttery and noisy. It shouldn't be called a 'movie' tripod at all.

With that said I'll still give it a +ve for the price.

  • Can I ask what the next model up would be better?
