Hey! Don't knock jerky. It's the shiznit.

    • Don't be a jerk, it's GREAT!

(harhar, I'm not trying to be mean) :)

Shipping is $12…so 1.5KG for $89 (buying the 1KG bag)

Beef from Woolworth ~$20 per KG

I love Jerky, but I just can't see, in the long run, how cost effective it is, when I could buy a humidifier and do it myself.

    Just my opinion…

    • -3

      I agree here.

You can't do a direct comparison of weight. Dehydrated weight vs. Non …

I can buy fabric cheap but that doesn't mean I will make my own clothes.

Ah I see, didn't even think of that! Good call, about.com says it will weigh approximately one-fourth its original raw weight.

Therefore this would be roughly 3-4KG of Beef. So the price would be very similar.

        • Then Buy Beef from IGA for $5.99 Kg and your opinion is win-win. Roughly Jerky @ $25.00/Kg. (With enough money to Spare to buy a Bag of your Choice lol) We don't know if Jim's is using Porterhouse Steak after all. Once dehydrated i cant tell the difference between a rump, Bolar or Porterhouse.

        • how much for the humidifier?

    • for a man with a muscle arm avatar you would think you would understand the extreme power of eating jerky, especially when you can hide 1.5kg of it in various locations ready to go

although, you raised a good point. Last year same time it was free shipping, this year you have to spend $100 to get free freight.

      1kg x 2 @ $75ea = $150 for 2.5kg of jerky ($60/kg). but that's a lot of jerky

      1kg @ $75ea + 200g @ $25ea = $100 for 1.5kg of jerky ($66.67/kg)

p.s. free freight on orders at or above $100

  • The link between it being Salty and looking awesome is interesting, Im guessing most people wouldnt be drinking water with Jerky, I think people would be consuming beer

4.It is a salty, savoury snack that will make you thirsty
Thirsty = More drinking = Better hydration = Not looking like a piece of jerky = Looking AWESOME

  • Hi rep, which flavour has the least amount of salt?

    • Hey Beatlock, all of our Jerky has the same basic spice. We add the flavours at a later stage, so they all have the same amount of salt.

  • Way too tempted by this!

  • Can anyone tell me if this is a good price or not? I never tried jerky before, and I did some research that it is good protein snake which I need at the moment. Have anyone tried their jerky before?

  • Still Cheaper At Costco $39/per kilo

    • +4

Good point, cost is the only useful reference point for food.

6g of carbs per 100g is damn good for jerky. The nasty shit they sell in coles is about 4x that!

  • Best Jerky I've tasted - and I've tasted lots here and in South Africa!

Will get another order in of 3 x 500g of Biltong

  • Om Nom Nom! Cheers OP! Few flavours ordered of Biltong (my best memory of SA!)

  • Thanks OP, triggered me to make my own today in the oven.
See what $5.- of chuck beef will get me. Looking good :-)

    • Whoohoo, 6 hours later, best beef jerky ever!
