  • 33% off business class only.

    • Amended. Thanks for pointing out.

  • -1

$641 return from the gold coast.

    • to Singapore that is, on most dates, sorry, should have explained it a bit better

  • +6

I just hope they would expand their network to Melbourne to increase the competition here.

    • Not sure about now but they only had 2 planes when they started.
Maybe once the fleet expands they will come to Melbs.

    • There is already Jetstar and Air Asia along with the usual group of Qantas, Emirates, Qatar, etc and you want more competition? :)

      • +1

More low cost competition yes please!

I believe Scoot are sniff around Melbourne as they've been rumoured to be in talks with Avalon when it gets it's international terminal built.
        http://www.theage.com.au/travel/travel-news/avalon-airport-l…

That's if you consider Geelong/Avalon as Melbourne (it's like calling Wollongong, Sydney

        • Avalon, ugh. Better than nothing in Melbourne I guess, but Tullamarine would be so much more convenient.

        • If a direct train line to Avalon was in place I would go there. Melb airport too busy! But then if the was a train to melb airport I would go there too!

  • Fly from 22nd January to 31st May

normal price for scoot biz for OOL to SIN is $599 (one way), where as first class qantas BNE to SIN is $3500.00 (one way). Am I missing something here?

    • when heading to SIN I generally fly Qantas A380 in First Class for not much more

      How do you do that?

      • +3

He knows a guy who sneaks him onto the runway. If you are fast enough, you will be able to catch the front wheel of the airplane before it takes off. Once the wheel folds back into position, you will be sitting right under first class! All this for only $749

        • Classic!

    • +2

Hi! Could you pls let me know where I could get such tickets on QF First? I've been looking and its like QF First is about 7 times more than ScootBiz.

      ScootBiz - A$974 return SYD-SIN-SYD
      QF First - A$7131 return SYD-SIN-SYD

      • As long as there is a hack then that's ok…certainly RRP for F class is not simply a few dollars more than Scoot. I assume points and other methods are involved ;)

      • +1

lol @ 'I'm less inclined to share considering everytime I post a travel-related bargain I get ridiculed and personally attacked'

      • You work for qantas?

      • +12

not suggesting you to reveal your method, however posting the comment comparing scoot business price and your 'hack' price was pointless.

      • +6

"everytime I post a travel-related bargain I get ridiculed and personally attacked (see my posting history)."

        Here's your posting history
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/40929/nodes

from 3 travel related posts, there's no -'s, and 264 +'s ….That sounds more like praise.

But reading your previous posts you fly a lot & use points, so I guess points+pay would be around $888 for 1st class. I guess you book return flights originating in your destination (e.g. points to get over to Singsing) & book a return flight back (points & pay) as 9/10 Qantas & other airlines gouge return flights originating out of Oz & you can usually change for flights for a lot less too. Not sure why that's some deep dark secret.

      • +18

        I call shenanigans.

You talk down the deal and specifically state that ScootBiz is poor value in comparison to full-service carriers, then refuse to give specific examples or how others can achieve this value - then why did you even bother posting in the first place???

Was it simply to boast that you can get better deals than everyone else?

        • It reminds me of a poster in another forum claiming a fantastic price for a solar PV installation. Others queried the great price and how they could achieve it. Turned out the poster was getting the components at wholesale price and all labour to install was free. All a bit pointless really.

        • +1

Unless he's a flight attendant, I don't see any 'hidden deals' with Qantas. Poor attempt at trolling.

      • I would suggest that perhaps putting a receipt up with personal details removed would be recommended. I know AA are selling miles very cheaply, so I guess with some kind of credit card miles stacking, it could be possible.

        • soakwashrinsespin got banned, don't think you'll see him/her posting a receipt even if they wanted to!

      • surely if your partner working with qantas, no wonder, why don't u try with other airline as well outside qantas partner, can you still do that?

    • In the past you used to be able to buy points for Diamond Club (from UK airline BMI) and then redeem first/business class flights. You could also do points + cash, so you could buy half the points, then half the "top up", redeem for first/business and have only spent about what you would have spent on economy.

I've seen a lot of the world in first and business class thanks to this.

However Diamond Club is no more :(

    • Nice trolling. Enjoy your time in the Penalty Box.

      • Dont assume, their penalty box status relates to this.

On another note, I think mentioning something that you cant share, isnt really a nice thing to do and as you say its trolling as its not available to all.

  • whilst i agree scootbiz is probably not the fanciest business class, in fact it is just a bigger, more comfy chair… they have inflight upgrades available for about $100 AUD (Syd <—> Sin) from eco -> scootbiz if there are seats available, which is a fantastic deal as this comes with the blanket, eye cover, neck pillow ($25), food and drinks ($25+). =D

  • Got me excited until I've realised the fare for Taipei is one way….oh well.

  • +2

Guys - I have tried the promo code and it is case sensitive LoL only works if you type in 33 and then OFF in caps.

  • +10

Can I just ask, why this is such a great bargain when standby upgrades to Scootbiz are a mere $99? A 'Fly' price for an April date is about $520 and Scootbiz, with the discount, is $782. Even WITH FlyBagEat, it's only $583, so you're paying about $200 - $250 more for Scootbiz when you can get the upgrade at the airport for $99…

What's more, is that Scootbiz will be far more packed because of the perceived 'saving' so you're better off saving your money and just getting a S-T-R-E-T-C-H seat (the yellow ones), since these aren't purchased as much.

Sorry OP, I really did want to like this deal, but logically, I can't see how this is a bargain. If Scootbiz is much better that a S-T-R-E-T-C-H seat then maybe it's justifiable, but Scootbiz just offers slightly more legroom, and that's it. Period.

Also there are no more free iPads handed out for entertainment any more, and the 'pillow and blanket' are just really trivial. $250 for a fraction more of an inch and a more crowded cabin? No thank you. Stick with FlyBagEat and S-T-R-E-T-C-H if you want need the extra space.

    • now you mention it, i recall seeing the signs in the queue for check-in

      • +1

So you'd pay $200+ more, just to save between 10 to 40 minutes in check-in? I mean, sure, you're checked in faster, but then you end up having to join the economy queue when it comes to customs and security anyway (no Express Track for Scootbiz). Then after that, you're all waiting for the same plane, in the same place (Scootbiz doesn't have lounge access).

Priority check-in makes sense if there's an Express Pass waiting and a lounge ahead. Scoot offers neither. The only thing it offers is for you to (pointlessly) act tall and mighty over the economy people for 2 minutes, and allows you to reach the MacDonalds queue maybe 30 seconds before the economy passenger behind you.

    • +3

How will you get the $99 upgrade if all the seats are sold from this deal?

Since when did the stretch seat increase seat width by 5 inches?

      • +1

they only offer the $99 upgrade when there are free seats to make you spend more at check in

        • Exactly right, so there won't be any left for this period. So that point pushniacki is moot.

      • Scoot (blue) economy seat is 31"
        Super seat (yellow) is 35"
        S-T-R-E-T-C-H (yellow bulkhead) is 38"
        Scootbiz is 38"

So sure, book Scootbiz if you like, but all you get is literally 2 minutes of (unjustified) entitlement at 'priority' check-in. You eat the same food as the EatFlyBag people, and it cost the same $22SGD to rent an iPad as the 'Fly People'. So as you spend $250 to enjoy your 2 minutes at check-in, the guy who booked a S-T-R-E-T-C-H seat gets the same seat pitch as you, most likely one or two other seats next to him free, whilst you're jammed pack in Scootbiz with other people who feel they've snagged a 'bargain.'

What's more, is that if you wanted the seat (although I don't understand why), you could've just spent $99 at standby instead of $200-$250 pre-booking.

It's amazing how simply having the label 'biz' makes people think they're getting a better product or getting a bargain. Well done to Scoot I guess…

        • I said seat WIDTH, not pitch… The biz seat is 5" wider.
And you won't be able to spend the extra $99, because this deal will book those seats out.

You replied to my post, yet you completely ignored what it said. I'm not even going to buy the product, nor would I ever fly with them, but gee whiz.

        • -3

It's pointless to try and tell someone about an airline when they flatly believe they know better. It's simple: I'm saying (many times now) to NOT book Scootbiz as it's nominally better than EatFlyBag on S-T-R-E-T-C-H. If you believe that 'width' in a crammed cabin is better than having two or three seats to yourself in S-T-R-E-T-C-H, then you're entitled to that.

And in regards to the $99 standby upgrade. As stated before (sounding like broken record), you shouldn't even be doing it since EatFlyBag is enough, but if you (for some unknown reason) prefer Scootbiz at the last minute, you can do so at the check-in desk instead of pre-booking online, since the product difference is so nominal (hence why would you pre-book Scootbiz in the first place?).

Just remember that S-T-R-E-T-C-H are bulkhead seats with 38" of seat pitch. The reason these are comparable, or even better than Scootbiz is (1) same pitch as Scootbiz (2) No-one to recline their seat onto you. You'll still get reclined on, on pretty much all of the Scootbiz seats, so not very 'advantageous' over the economy S-T-R-E-C-H…

        • -1

I'm a skinny bloke, but I can see how a guaranteed additional 5" in width would be required for larger persons.

I can't understand what your agenda is, but it's a massive broken record and does not take into consideration all scenarios.

        • He makes a point. If it doesn't suits you then so be it, but like you say about a broken record in a sense you are also belabouring your point as well.

While I have never flown Scoot, I will look at what he and others say as a possibility and decide when and if I fly with them.

Terrible food on my Scoot flights. Others complained.
Don't understand why so many '+' for flying on basic low cost airline at a dearer price.
Got $99 Scoot flight from GC to SIN in 2 weeks. Will bring my own snacks.

    • I saw someone bring a KFC bucket the one and only time I flew Scoot!

      • +1

I haven't eaten KFC in years, but it would have been better than the dried out rubbish served when I have flown. As the discount arm of Singapore Airlines (known for its food) it came as a shock. I was attending the Singapore Food Festival. Was not a good start.

Otherwise no problems with Scoot - for the cheap flights.
It is after all just public transport.

        • That explains a lot. Have you tried the food served up in SIA flights lately? They are like unseasoned cooked meat tossed in a sauce bag and microwaved before serving.

        • +1

Standards have slipped. Maybe Scoot gets its food from SIA leftovers? It was inedible & horrible looking (IMO).

        • -1

Food sucks on all airlines, I tend to go for the alcohol while on the long haul flights ;)

        • You must take pictures and instagram it!

        • Regarding drinking being a priority over airline food… I had free access to the bar on a Japan Airlines flight Narita to Heathrow - maybe because I was a lot bigger than the hosties, who were too polite to ask for the bottle of 12 year old whiskey back. Happily dispensed it to my new friends, and one for me. I will never drink alcohol on a flight again! I never knew I could make such a mess of all walls & floor of a toilet!! (I know - too much detail.) Arriving drunk / hung-over is the worst. Now I have respect for those who have to put up with people like me.

I'll stick with the food if reasonable, and most is. Just that Scoots is the worst I have tried on any airline. Being served purple rice porridge gruel with just a salted plum floating in it, on a cheap China Eastern Airlines flight Beijing to Seoul, was preferable to what I attempted to eat on Scoot. I spat out my first mouthful of all cooked meals. Would never try again.

Have packed muesli bars, dried fruit & will drink water on my Scoot flight to SIN. Will make me look forward to an evening of wonderful food in Little India, or maybe a Chilli Crab! Now thats worth waiting an 8 hour flight for. I don't think any airline food can compare with that.

        • Could have been worse. You may have ended up like this guy:
