          Penny is a nickname,

          Official Government Website…

          https://www.foreignminister.gov.au/minister/penny-wong

            • @PerfectlyGneiss:

              You are wrong

              Nope… https://www.foreignminister.gov.au/minister/penny-wong

Her name on the ballot sheet was "Penny Wong".

Pretty sure you can't put nicknames there… Didn't see "Albo" or "Scommmo" on the ballot sheet…

              • -4

@jv: Yes you can and it’s quite regularly seen. Her birth certificate states Penelope, and she has not changed it officially to Penny.

                Just admit you are wrong

@jv: Yes but she hasn’t, that is the point. She could also have changed her name to Benny but she hasn’t.

It clearly states it is her preferred name at the bottom of this page.

You are welcome to email her to confirm your mistake

It clearly states it is her preferred name

Yes, she prefers "Penny" because that is now her legal name, not her birth name.

It is also the legal name she graduated with…

                          https://www.unisa.edu.au/connect/alumni-network/alumni-award…

                          • @jv: No it’s her preferred name, eg. A nickname.

Feel free to provide a link to where she changed her name to Penny officially, otherwise you are simply trying to claim something by linking examples of where she has used a preferred name. As you aren’t disputing that her birth certificate states Penelope, not Penny, so to claim that now her name is officially changed, the onus is on you to provide the documentation of this official change. Which you can’t as it didn’t occur.

Yes, her preferred name and legal name.

She does not want to be called by her birth name.

                              eg. A nickname.

A preferred name is not the same as a 'nickname'

@jv: Okay finally you agree, it’s her preferred name or nickname, not her actual official name.

Again please take more care in future, to avoid me having to correct your mistakes.

it’s her preferred name not her nickname

                                  • @jv: It’s either her legal name stated on her birth certificate or her name change documentation. Everything else is a nickname, even if it’s a common abbreviation. Eg. Robert Hawke was commonly referred to as Bob Hawke.

Again the onus is on you to show evidence that she officially changed her legal name from that which is stated on her birth certificate. You can only change a legal name through an official process, which she hasn’t done.

@jv: You can’t prove something that hasn’t occurred. Again the onus is on you to provide evidence that a claim you are making has occurred, as in she has officially changed her name from that stated on her birth certificate.

Otherwise time to admit your mistake. You are welcome to call her parliamentary office to clarify your error.

But it has, so prove it.

                                          • @jv: Okay, I cant prove that she has changed her name, so sounds like we can confidentially conclude that she hasn’t.

                                            • @PerfectlyGneiss: @PerfectlyGneiss why do we have to do it confidentially? Please take more care in future, to avoid me having to correct your mistakes.

                            @jv: chatgpt says
The correct name is Penny Wong, not Penelope Wong. Penny Wong is an Australian politician who serves as a member of the Australian Labor Party and has held various significant positions, including Minister for Foreign Affairs.
