Trip.com: 15% Cashback on Hotels & 10% Cashback on Flights (Excluding Domestic China) @ TopCashback AU

490

Good upsized cashback on Hotels 15% & Flights 10% (excluding Domestic China) at Trip.com from TopCashback.

What will stop me getting my cashback

  • Cashback is eligible on the base fare component only for flights and excludes all taxes & levies. Cashback is ineligible on children & infant tickets.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of gift cards for payment and/or purchase of gift cards.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

What else is essential

  • Cashback is calculated based on the amount paid online at the time of booking. If you choose to pay the final amount at the hotel, cashback will be adjusted up to 20 weeks after consumption of the booking has been validated by the retailer.
  • Trip.com trades in US dollars meaning the purchase amount and the cashback amount tracked may vary due to conversion rates.
  • Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.
  • You must always return to TopCashback and click the pink cashback button through to the retailer's website for each new transaction. Ensure the TopCashback link is the last one used to visit the retailer's website prior to completing your purchase.
  • Any accounts that engage in fraudulent orders/activities to game/cheat the cashback system will be banned and cashback forfeited.

Good to know

  • Note that cashback approval may take longer than usual if choosing to pay at the hotel rather than at time of booking.
  • Most retailers calculate cashback based on purchase amount excluding GST, other taxes, and delivery fees. Your cashback may report lower than expected due to this.
  • If an order is cancelled / returned / exchanged / modified, it will no longer be eligible for cashback and will be declined in your account.

Does top cashback do the bs thing that CR / SB do where they artificially jack up prices when booking hotels?

    • +5

I think it's more the travel website more than the cashback that does this. I've found trip.com doesn't jack up prices if you click through the cashback, but their base price is always a little higher. You should always check though.

      • Trip.com did jack up price for me :( Haven't been able to find a deal from them last time.

Booking hotels in japan for October this year.

    Is it eligible?

  • +2

NB: You won't get cashback on the taxes and surcharges (which can be substantial part of the airfare), so don't expect 10% on the total amount.

    • I still waiting for my lenovo cash reward, they are the worse of all cash reward apps

      • I haven't had any issues with them.

        • @Anubizz When was your Lenovo purchase? My order on 5th Nov was paid on 21st Jan, about 2.5 months.

  • Seeing 10%+ on flights quite frequently now… Wonder if it's a new norm.

    • Don't expect get 10% what you pay total, 10% is for base fare

      • +2

Yes, but 10% is still a lot considering I'd rarely see above 4% in the past

  • Any credit card international transaction fees being charged when paying at trip.com?

    • Not for my Nab and Amex, chosen AUD

      • It’s never about the currency unfortunately. It’s all about where payment gets cleared

    • According to this trip.com charges a fee

    • +1

I'm paying via Paypal, specifically pay in 4, and that seems to not attract international transaction fees (3% going up 3.5% in May for me).

      • pay in 4

In that case, the merchant is paypal not trip.com so we can't say anything about whether trip.com will attract fee or not.
Fun fact: if you refund bookings made with paypal in 4, money come back to your paypal balance, not your credit card.

    • Payments are usually in AUD.

It’s never about the currency unfortunately. It’s all about where payment gets cleared

    • I had international charges one from Trip.com so feels hit and miss.

    • with trip.com when paying AUD no for me

but it does on booking.com if accommodation is overseas

  • Is there any cap for flights?

I'm looking at flights, 10% cashback on base fare would be $500

    • +3

Just be careful. My mate and I just booked a trip to China, total was around $1500AUD. Here we were thinking we would get $150 or so cash back but the base fare was only like $170.00 before taxes

      • Yep, paid over 1k for my flight and get 20 something cashback lol, was expecting over 100 bucks haha

  • +1

I would check the base fare before booking and if the saving isnt an awful lot I would personally book direct with the airline rather than through a 3rd party.

Also Trip.com adds a $15 fee when checking out for flights i believe. They also try to get you to do alot of add ons for service and insurance with themselves.

  • So if you book tickets for a family including children, do they invalidate the whole cashback or is children's component just excluded? Thanks!

    • I asked the rep TA and here's the reply:

Will track at full sale amount, then a few weeks later the children's component will be removed & cashback adjusted accordingly.

      • Interesting rule… cannot figure out why they exclude kids.

  • Damn! Just booked 10 night stay in QLD through Shopback that only had 10% cashback. Bugger

better off booking Japan than Qld… cheaper and better

      • I'd love to but I will already be on a road trip around QLD at that time and partner wanted to go to Gold Coast.. I only booked accommodation.

        • hopefully the beaches are back when you go

          Gold Coast is yuck now

  • Is flight from Hong Kong to Taiwan considered 'Domestic China'?

    • No, those are International China

  • +1

Managed to find a flight ticket to China that is $50 on the flight part and $500 in taxes and fees. So the 10% cash back would only be $5

  • Anyone's flight purchase tracked yet?
