What's the usual RRP on this?

  • Got the same from JB

    • +1

No free wall mounting from JB, but they do give you 6 months of Binge Basic:

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/tcl-98-c755-4k-uhd-qd-min…

      • +1

I had JB gift cards to use up, you would also need to buy the wall mount.

      • -1

Imma binge Murdoch and Zaslav's gay scenes.

      • JB will just match it if you ask nicely

        • Will they still match it now? Keen to pull the trigger on this

  • +2

    Thats a great price

  • +1

Is TCL the renamed 'Toshiba' of the past?

    • +5

No they are a big Chinese manufacturer

    • That was a joint venture to manufacture whitegoods.

    • Nope, Toshiba still going strong, much better quality than TCL.

  • +17

Now i just need a bigger house

    • 98" the bigger the better

~ size tiny-suv…people want tv to be THE dominating-feature in a room: what drive that preferences ?

  • 2% cashrewards too

  • +21

The best feature for this size TV: if your house gets broken into, at least this won't be going anywhere!

    • +8

they will smash it out of jealousy

      • -1

        Cool, Insurance job.

  • this or a broken cart 83 inch oled?

    • +1

You know those box damage ones are actually customer returns. Factory seconds are damaged goods that have been fixed by the seller.

  • Holy moly ….. Really wish I have a living room that can fit this bloody thing.

    • +12

      Not with that attitude

  • +6

Hmm and ahh right now. Price so good

Edit: Thanks OP. Purchased one just now.

  • 65" $1101 at TGG with PB. Sooooo tempting! Anywhere cheaper?

  • +3

I'm in the market for a new projector for my media room. This is the same size as my current screen, do I just get this??

    • +9

Depends on your setup, for 3.5k you could get a high end LED epson or benq , with enough left for a decent screen.
A projector will have far superior viewing angles and zero reflection issues. Projectors still do 3d too, great if you have kids.
Projectors are more portable and easily moved, though for best setup you’d probably want it ceiling mounted. Picture size is of course scalable and projectors are usually long life, its often 10+ years before they really start to need repairs ( excepting replacement bulbs).

Cons, big one always is light, the more room light the more washed out the picture is. Its not unwatchable during daytime, but any tv is going to give a much better daytime picture… the one issue for tv’s is screen glare , the bigger the tv the more light it’s going to catch and reflect, especially in these cheaper models, so you still might be closing curtains in the daytime.

Contrast, brightness and overall picture generally going to be better on a (good) tv. Lag usually better on tv, but depends on model, gaming projectors are about 14ms in 4k

Large screen tv’s will likely take over eventually, but for now, projectors still have a lot to offer.

    • +5

I replaced my 110" screen and optoma projector with one of these. I can safely say, yes. No worries about focus, ambient light, VRR. The projectors that can compete are quite expensive and more suited to going far larger than 100"

    • -2

Get this if you only want 98 inches of immersion. Personally I prefer my 130 inch screen and my refurb Epson 7100 projector that cost $1.4k less all up than this deal.

      • +1

Wont be suitable in my case. Bright living room and projector have bad day time performance.

    • -1

You won't get native 4k on a projector anywhere near this price range.

    • If you are using a project at only 98".. why bother with a projector.

      A project shines at 200-300"

  • -6

Not sure on this model, but picked up the 98c855. I’d say OLED is no longer needed and possibly inferior due to brightness and dimming.

    • +12

      Hehehe. Hehehehehehehe. Hehehehehehehehehehehe.

    • OLED absolutely smacks Mini LED in terms of contrast, there is no competition. I use a Samsung S90C in a bright room and it's plenty bright, OLED dimness is not nearly the issue it used to be.

      • Right? Just went from C1 to C4 and the difference in bright room is insane. Really glad I didn’t go back to mini led, even though the value is certainly there.

Mind you, 77” for more than 98” does make you a bit sad haha

        • Yeah even if money wasn't a concern, the limited size options in OLED are a bit disappointing. There was one generation of LG G2 that had a 97" option, and other than that, they cap out at 83". Nothing to sneeze at, but not mind boggling either.

      • +2

You are right but the size difference we are talking here is enormous

        • +1

Of course, but the original comment stated "I’d say OLED is no longer needed and possibly inferior due to brightness and dimming."

    • Brightness yes, dimming no. The pixels literally turn off. Micro LED is what may threaten OLED but only time will tell.

      • -1

New mini led models have so many zones that it’s almost imperceptible which pixels are on or off. Content presents as if there is infinitely contrast.

I have an older mini led, and the latest model, as-well as oled. Seeing is believing, I don’t think oled has a future.

  • that's a great price.. have the 85c855 and would have paid an extra grand for this in a heartbeat

I hope this isn't spammy, I've tried to collate all the TCL TV deals at the moment

    • C755 was released in 2024 tho?

    • Nice table. I got the C845 75' for 1.4k last year. This year has no real deal yet for 75'.

  • Nice.

  • I dont know how many more TVs i’ll buy this week. 😂
    Folks, something new

  • this or c855 ?

    • +1

This. 98 inch is so immersive. That why i must have one. I have Lg C155 inch and when i saw a 98 inch tcl 755 in store i was gobsmack how good it is. Not the inky black and deeper oled colour good but enough to satisfy my eyes.

      • The 85" is so much cheaper. I'm considering going for this over my current 55".

Even though I barely watch TV and am quite happy with the 6+ year old OLED

        • I wanted a big tv that will last for a long time and still say wow for years onwards. Instead of paying for a 85inch and knowing the 98 inch is a better choice.

Maybe down the line I get a 115 inch once my youngest in her final year of high school.

    • this at 3660 to 5200 for level up not worth it.

  • I'm getting tired just thinking of the miles my eyes would cover running back and forth across a screen this big.

  • Once you go 140" you never go back 😅

  • Have this as well - very happy and literally 4x the size of my old TV.

Still feels a bit small on the wall in our living room though but we sit close enough its still great

  • I wondered if 98" at 4K would start to expose the pixels, and leave you wanting 8K? Doesn't sound like it though.

  • That is a pretty good price. Is the C855 worth the $ money over this? It looks like the cheapest the C855 has been is $5200 which is a big difference over this $3656 price tag.

  • Want to buy but not sure if I can do wall mount for this 60kg TV at my Hebel made house. Anyone had experience wall mounting this with Hebel house?

    • External Hebel block wall? 250mm thick? Not a problem, just need to put 3 coach screws 150mm along the top and 3 coach screws along the bottom of the wall mount.

    • I was under the assumption that the external being hebel doesn't make a difference to wall mounting inside? If it's being mounted outside then yea different story.

  • Yeah external Hebel wall. Thanks will have a look.

  • How is 98" c745? Anyone has it?

  • +1

got the 98" C755 installed, beware it has a 500x600 VESA pattern.

JB supplied a mount that they said would fit but it didn't. The installers ended up supplying one that fit for cheaper, and returned the JB one.

    • which tv mount from Goodguys didnt fit? Is it the Ezymount Full Motion Wall Mount (55"-100")
      SLT6850B

i have purchase this to mount the tv

      • +1

200mm x 200mm to 850mm x 400mm according to the spec. You have to return it.

    • Thanks. I have to return the mount then.

      • Hi there, this is the confusing part. The above full motion mount listed 800mm x 600 mm too.
        See the VESA section
        https://www.canohm.com.au/ezymount-full-motion-wall-mounts/v…

Anyway decided to just use the titling model listed below.
Sanus 37-Inch-110-Inch Premium Extra Large Tilting TV Mount, Black

        Available in Harvey Norman.

        • Look like good guys have the wrong listing. It will suffice but do you really need a push and pull for a tv this big? Tilt is okay. I will return mine and grab a different compliant one.

  • Anybody has any suggestions on where to get a full motion tv wall mount for this model? Thank you

  • can someone recommend a suitable wall mount bracket for this size TV?

would something like this work ?

    https://www.selby.com.au/bracket-finder/60-150in-plasma-lcd-…

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/linden-fixed-wall-mount-large…

I like the idea of two brackets supporting the load.

    • +1

No sure on the Selby but the goodguys link will work

    • Sanus 37-Inch-110-Inch Premium Extra Large Tilting TV Mount, Black

      https://www.harveynorman.com.au/sanus-65-inch-to-140-inch-fl…

      Or search Amazon

      • The sanus will should work but not sure on the vesa support.

Edit: the sanus will work. Plenty of vesa support.

        • -1

I dont really want one with tilt option as its not needed for 98" screen plus I want it as flush to the wall as possible.

The GG link I posted above looks nice but its max 75kgs and up to 100" so its pushing the limits imo as the TV is almost that weight. The Selby one is probably best solution as its dual bracket and can hold some serious weight. I bought many times from Selby, great shop.

  • anyone have a delivery date yet?

    • Yeah mine coming this week. I was happy when I saw the SMS

    • I set my delivery date via the link from the SMS. Turns out it wasn't received in their system so had to rebook it via their online chat. Mine came today

      • My wall mounted and it glorious. Love it

  • Anybody yet to receive there’s yet? Me 1

    • Hows your ETA now? You might be on the second batch. Im enjoying the tv btw.

  • Has anyone got a delivery date yet? The last I heard from TGG was 3 weeks ago where they advised that delivery would be in the week beginning 31 March (i.e. this week), however I have heard nothing since and their online chat are unable to provide any useful information. They have scheduled my installation for tomorrow, but I was assuming the TV would be delivered first, unless the installation team will bring it with them?

    • For anyone still waiting on their TV, TGG got back to me today and said the warehouse is expecting limited stock to come in mid-late next week, and I have been allocated one of those. I've no idea if I'm on the end of orders to be fulfilled, or there are people further down the queue who will need to wait longer, so YMMV.

      • It will be last the batch , unless they have a warehouse full of 98 inch. The C7K is the new 2025 model.
