Great to see a more established brand with this sort of rating
The USB-A is a bit underpowered, 12W combined.

Maybe so, but I like that one port can still do 65W when the others are also loaded, keeps from reducing power to the important things.

primary charger i use for my 100w draw laptop and a bunch of peripheral things on a daily basis
    zero complaints

I've got that one. When plugging in and out devices it seems that it momentarily stops powering other devices.

These gan chargers are a life changer for travellers. Now I just buy usb c adapters for everything and I only need to carry one small charger.

    • you still need an international adaptor to plus this gan charger into it.
i've got a universal travel adaptor that has 2 USB & power plug so i can easily just use that to charge our iphones via usb cable and for the laptop, can use the standard power cable for it.

if i got this gan, i would need to buy a USB c to USB c cable to charge a laptop that has a usb C port in it.
again i'd still need to get an international travel adaptor to plug to this gan charger

or am i missing something apart from this gan charger giving fast charging capabilities ?

This charger has a Figure-8 (IEC C7) power socket, so instead of a bulky universal travel adaptor I just take a Figure-8 to US or UK or EU power cord:

I'm sure cheaper cables exist, found one locally on eBay for $7 free postage but it was the last in stock.

        • Odd my post got automatically deleted when I was just posted a Amazon link lol

Let’s hope this work but I was saying that I’d have to buy 3 seperate cables dependent on the country travelling too as opposed to the bulky international travel adaptor I bring. Again the only advantage I see is this Gan charger for laptops and fast charging?

Just an example of bulky travel adaptor which isn’t that bad

My other hot travel tip is to take a Australian power board with you. That way you only need one travel adapter. And if end up in a room with only one power point, you'll still be able to power a bunch of things.

      • This! d(>_・ )

      • I don't remember the last time I needed to use a wall plug to charge anything I travelled with. Even laptops are USB-C now.

Now if you have a female partner bringing a hairdryer or something like that, thats a different story.

        • Yes, it's certainly become a lot easier to travel with fewer charging accessories, but if you have a bit of power hungry tech with you (or a few companions), then sometimes you need to use more than one charger/adaptor. That's when the power board is useful.

I (and many others) have had severe coil whine with these.

But others haven't had any issue, so buy and if you get a whiney one, return to amazon (that's what I did).

    • Having just brought one of these, what is the best way to test for coil whine? Try and put as much load through it as possible?

      • +1

Try different combos of load - it might not be heavy load, it might be light - it was over a year ago when I bought one, so I can't remember.

The coil whine wasn't loud, but it was annoying - I couldn't fall asleep in the same room with the charger.

  • Very good deal

  • Decent little chargers, I've got one here at work at the moment, no coil whine on mine. I'm almost tempted to get another.

Price gone up slightly. Its $68.95 now

    • previous price was "sold by amazon" stock and current price is a different seller

      • Oh yes I see. Is this a red flag? Just coz it’s not from Amazon

        • not necessarily a sign of counterfeiting but good to be aware of – the main thing is longer delivery time and you'd be dealing with the third party instead of directly with amazon for any returns queries etc
