With all the recent GaN deals I was looking for something with 4+ ports and around 100w with a power cord. Almost pulled the trigger on the UGREEN then noticed this one and got it instead.

Seems like a useful charger to take on holidays by swapping out the figure 8 cord for a local plug?

    • +5

Yep I've always taken one of these style chargers overseas.

      • +12

I've always taken one of these style chargers overseas.

        Surpised they float.

        • +8

@PainToad can't work out the downvotes mate. It was comment of the day for mine. I had to scroll up to see your name, as I was 90% sure it was going to be a jv comment.

        • Oh dad, since when did you have an OZB account?

    • +3

This is exactly what I did.
I have the white version as it was on sale at the time and the black was always full price. Now the black one is cheaper.

    • Does it come with different type of figure 8 cord plug or youll need to buy them individually?

    • How do you mean? Don’t you need another figure 8 cord to local plug?

    • +5

This is what I do with the 100W UGREEN but I use this cable along with a set of Apple duck heads (I just bought the world adapter kit, although you only really need the EU, KOR, US, AU, and UK plugs to do pretty much the whole world as the others in the pack are only very minor variations and will work in the sockets anyway.)

      • +1

That is a genius idea!! Had no idea that some IKEA products used a cable like that.

      • +1

Wow, what a combo. Was on the fence about this as I don't really NEED it. But I've just bought the charger now.
Will look for the duckheads… almost made a typo (replace 'u' with 'i')

      • +1

Fantastic idea, you won't be the only one doing this with the 100W UGreen now. ;)

      • Does that IKEA type of cable have an actual name? Would like to search and find similar on Amazon.

        • +3

I actually ditched the IKEA one and bought a different one from AliExpress that has an angled plug so it would fit better in my bag.

I can’t post an AliExpress link here as supposedly the app only gives referral links that are flagged on here but it was called “Black 2 Prong C7 to C8 Extension Cable Power Supply Cord Figure 8 Elbow AC Power Charge Cable For TV Electric Bike Laptop 1.5M” and cost me $6.23.

I’ve used this setup in a few counties now of full time travel after my 100W Zyron shot sparks after a few weeks and it works great.

    • The model number suggests its the Australian model (au) and its black (BK).

Doesn't it come with a local plug?

      • It will come with a AU plug to figure 8 (IEC C7/C8) cable so you can just change it.

    • Yep, just did this for the USA.
Bought the cable over there at Best buy.

I don't take any other mains devices as I charge USB C to most of my devices.

I also have a 20k 100w power bank that I carry around just in case.

  • +10

This has less charging modes than the cheaper UGREEN and pretty sure it doesn't have PPS.
Good price but seems considerably worse aside from lack of Prime requirement.

    • +1

Does the UGREEN have a Figure 8 plug? To me that's the main appeal esp as a travel charger.

      • +3

        Yes

        • Do you mind linking to it? Edit: found it and confirmed it was mentioned by the OP. I can see the Belkin may appeal if you have older devices that need USB-A eg OMD cameras etc.

          • +2

@y2k: The UGreen also includes a USB-A socket (although only one).

  • +1

Yea why would you choose this over ugreen? Brand?

    • +4

Electrical certifications are a big factor for some people, but this is ozbargin - I have the ugreen

      • +8

The validity of my insurance policy is a pretty big factor too!

      • +3

I have just checked my Ugreen 65w, 100w and 200w chargers, all of them have Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM).
Also checked the Heymix, Anker and Belkin charges, without an exception, they all have RCMs.

    • +3

Yeah. I have put 3x UGREEN products in the bin from failure outside warranty. Zero Belkins.

      • +3

Never had a ugreen charger or cable fail on me. Also delivers advertised throughputs as multiple-y reviewed and tested on YouTube. Belkin though… I've personally had their cables and chargers fail on me.

      • You could put electronic items into the bin?

    • +1

Personally i dont tend to trust smaller brands, i dont want to killing my laptop or phone cause i cheaped out on a charger. The Ugreen is probably going to be good enough and I'm just worrying over nothing but i would prefer to spend that little bit more for peace of mind.

      • +3

I was just in Japan and in the major retailers like BIC and Yodobashi Camera, UGREEN had their own section in the store with all their products, sitting alongside the likes of Anker and Belkin.

        • Yep, saw the same thing - UGREEN had one of the largest section in the BIC store I was in.

      • +1

I wouldn't call UGreen a smaller brand. Here's 11 pages of UGreen deals.

    • -1

I think the ugreen version of this uses a laptop style clover cable ranther than a simple figure 8 cable.

    • Ugreen has maximum of 45W output for single port, base on this picture: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/S/aplus-media-library-serv…

      For Belkin: 65W https://m.media-amazon.com/images/S/aplus-media-library-serv…

Not sure what Max 96W means tho

      • +1

That graphics seems to say 45w max for the usb-c is if you have all of those ports in use. Where did you get that graphic from?

The graphics in the Amazon listing show 100w max from a single port (I assume the max is if you don't plug in other ports) .

      • The UGREEN pic you quoted is for when all the ports are in use simultaneously.

The second photo in the carousel shows the actual maximum output, which is 100W for the C1 and C2 ports.

The product page tells you everything you need to know.
        https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Charger-Charging-Station-Co…

        • Yeah, that's might be it. There are some of those 100W chargers are "fishy". Some brands just sum wattage of all outputs and call it 100W :)
          Need to check carefully

  • +6

I have the white version of this product. It's great. The connecting wall plug is quite long too (handy for when travelling and there isn't a power plug near the bed).

    • This. Also handy when in a departure lounge etc that doesn't have charging stations nearby. The long cable does take up some room, but one of the more important uses of your carry on IMHO

  • +1

I have two of these, they’re fantastic although I’d prefer more USB-C these days

    • +1

The Ugreen one has 3 USB-C and just one USB-A. (Or 4 USB-C if you jump up to the higher wattage models).

    • Belkin has a 4 port USB-C 200W version but it's currently $169.

    • I like this version because there are some odd devices such as bose and dumb usb lights that don't like usb-c to usb-c and won't take a charge. Only takes charge on USB-A to USB-C.

  • Anyone know how much it weighs? A Google say 90g, surely that's not right. I just bought two.

    • +1

It's buried in the Amazon listing. 480g

    • +9

      Why not the heymix one

      .

      heymix

      That's why.

    • +5

      Firestarter - The Prodigy

I have a Heymix one and I don't think it's earthed properly. You can almost feel the electricity through your devices.

  • +1

This gets fairly toasty when under decent load; however it does feel like there's decent heatsinking inside due to the weight so I'm much less concerned this will melt compared to other import brands.

  • +1

Returned mine as the coil whine was really loud.

    • +1

Same, its fine when lightly loaded. But plugging a laptop and something else. It goes bzzzzzzzbzzzzzzzz.

  • +1

i've got 2 of these, in both black and white, love them to bits. bring one on all my travels and i can power and charge all my devices. however, the white one developed a coil whine if i use one of the usb A slots. Aside from that, they've been rock steady chargers/power bricks.

  • It’s no longer available is it ? Can someone check ?

      • I still see $68.98 on the product page and if I add to cart?

        • Really weird, haven’t seen this before with where I live but for some reason the deal doesn’t work for my postcode. If I change the address the deal pops up.

      • +1

        White one is $80.82

Are you looking at the black one which is $68.98?

        • Yeah you are right. The deal is still on.

  • I just tried from the link above and was able to get it at the advertised price, thanks OP 😄

  • Can anyone recommend a reliable Dock to connect 2 monitors (HDMI and DP) and can charge laptop as well. Thanks

  • About to pull the trigger on this model.

Has anyone noticed any coil whine on this new model? The earlier Belkin 4-port GaN chargers suffered from this issue.

  • Had this. It does provide sufficient charge to meet the 45/65W demand for a Lenovo Laptop; however, it doesn't meet the wattage requirement to Ultra/Super Fast Charge the Samsung 24ultra or equivalent phones.

    So Fair warning.

Personally, recommend anker/ugreen or etc. with 45W charging capacity to get those speeds if you need it.

  • +3

I do not recommend this. I have the white version & here are some issues I have encountered in daily use and stopped using:

    1) bad coil whine using the USB A ports even if used in isolation tried with variety of cables including new Apple usb a to lightening cables. The whine is noticeable in a quiet room such as doing desktop editing work with no other sound you’ll hear it. Putting it beside your bed stand some people will also hear it. Is non stop.

    2) although you get the ~65w maximum out of a single usb c port I have several pc handhelds like the Legion Go, Rog Ally & steam deck OLED. The windows handhelds warns me the charger is not providing consistent supply especially through armoury create on Ally. Ironically this error doesn’t trigger on another Ugreen charger I use.

    3) This thing gets incredibly hot and I’d be nervous to leave it on anything other than a wooden desk with a rubber mat etc. I jumped at the temperature shock few times when I’ve accidentally touched it when it used to be by my bedside simply charging iPad, iPhone & a usbc device at same time. I’m not talking temps are high to touch, I’m talking about I can very briefly touch my PC and handhelds during operation where internals get ~80 degrees Celsius so exterior ~50 degrees. This thing must be >55 degrees when you load it up on 3 ports not even all 4…

    • +1

Sounds like there could be an issue with your unit… I use mine for very similar purposes and have zero issues you mentioned above, it does get a little warm when at max capacity but nothing alarming (had it for about a year I'd say).

I do have a HEYMIX version of this also (same ports, similar wattage) and it does have coil whine and gets so hot that I stop using it…

    • +1

I had one of these with coil-whine too - sent it back and now use a ugreen - which has had zero issues so far.

    • Did you find something you liked that met your requirements? I'm looking for a BIFL option in this type of product.

  • Can anyone help me confirm; the image on the amazon listing notes the distribution of watts when using the different ports in different orientations. However, there isn't a orientation shown where all four ports are plugged in. From left to right - I'm thinking a tablet into the left most USB-C port, my phone into the remaining USB-C port, then my watch and headphones across the two USB-A ports. Will my tablet still charge at the 65W, or will it drop further given the distribution to the USB-As?

    • +2

Ironically i think they did it that way to try reduce confusion by trying to show that the USB-A's are separate to the USB-C's. So they will not affect the output of the USB-C's and vice versa (thats how i read it anyway)

So in answer to your question my thoughts is that you will still get 65W for the tablet and 30W for the phone when you plug anything into either/both USB-As

  • Back at this price if anyone was still looking

  • I keep buying these and still keep needing to move them about because I don't have enough. I have this Chinese one and the plug fits so tight it pulls the wall hole plates off the wall when I yank it out.

  • I’m really keen to move to USB C but every time I look I decide that USB A x 6 remains better for my use case. Whatever happened to Ravpower anyway?

  • im assuming this would be useful if needing to charge heavier appliances like laptops.

apart from that a standard adaptor with usb pots should be enough to charge phones and ipads (of course having an international adaptor with usb will do the trick when overseas)
