  • Left for dead 2 still censored in Australia ?

    • +7

Thankfully not😅 it's strange that this game is still so known for this controversy, even after so many years, but I guess it still leaves a very bitter taste in peoples mouths and honestly I can't blame them. I bought my copy form overseas at the time, to avoid the stupid censorship ✊

But all you have to do nowadays is download the official patch/update and it restores the gore, apparently it's been uncensored for over 10 years now.

So grab a katana and go nuts !🤣

A very kind American on reddit bought me a copy and didn't even make me pay them back!! The censorship in Australia is no needless.

        • That's really cool! Indeed he was helping a brother in need 👍

Yeah, it basically destroyed the game here in Australia at the time, if you look at old YouTube footage of the censored version, it's just so very depressing 😓 and practically unplayable imo.

I'm glad I managed to get around that B#ll $hit and play the game properly and that many others here did too. 😉 Or else I would have probably missed out on one of my favourite games ever 😲

    • Got mine at launch from the UK. The Australian Government got no taxes because of their inhumane actions.

Left 4 Dead 2 is still the best online First Person Shooter I have played! And I still play, but I wish Valve would update it😓

So many unworthy titles get modernized these days, but this game (probably one of the greatest games ever made?) actually deserves it!🤗

    • I think the game is fine as it is and doesn’t need a “remaster”. A sequel would be nice though

      • Yeah a sequel would be the ultimate dream. But it could really benefit from being ported to Source Engine 2, if for nothing else, than the added stability (64-bit vs 32-bit) it would give for modding. I get a crash at least once every play session, sometimes multiple in a row.

But the upgrade to Source 2, would be like the boon for modding that the 64-bit version of Skyrim was a few years back and opened the doors for greater mods to be made as well as making the game vastly more reliable to play.

It would also look a bit prettier on Source 2 and have better physics effects, maybe not a massive change but still noteworthy, and there's nothing wrong with that 😂

And they did it with CS:GO and I think they are going to do it to Team Fortress or something else soon, so why not throw L4D2 some love? 💖🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️

But Valve can't count to 3.

Does anyone know if multiplayer Left 4 Dead 2 alive these days?

I used to play this back in the days on Xbox360 and I looooooooved it so much! Servers used to be so full back then - I'm tempted to buy it, but not if it's going to take a while (i.e. 5-10min) to get a game

      • +1

Yes, still alive! You can get a game of Campaign at most times of the day (no waiting), and during certain times there will be plenty of games going. Go for it 👍

    • Such a good game but ruin by hackers and cheaters in PvP mode. The game can be easily exploited due to its age.

      • @vash12 Sorry to hear this, I only play Co-Op so I haven't heard of these issues

      • PvP mode as in - when it's 4v4 (IIRC) - and each side has both a go at humans and zombies?

That's a shame - that was the only mode I played and thoroughly enjoyed it.

        • Pvp mode is still fun as hell. But just keep in mind that it’s common to see aimbots or speedhacks in verus mode.

A strange collection of games, Portal 2 and L4D if you haven't played are a steal for under $2. BG3 at $70 is a pretty common sale price recently. Hard to upvote…

    • +1

To be fair Portal 2 and L4D2 for <$2 also isn't that rare.

      • No, but in my mind it's a different kind of "bargain"

        • That's fair, if I had posted it separately though there's a chance a mod would have simply combined them.

    • +3

the reason is steam couch co-op fest. there's a bunch of fun games to play together in person or online, these 3 are more notable/recognisable, most others are smaller indie titles but still very fun and worth exploring

      • Didn’t know BG3 was couch co-op
Edit: oh it doesnT mean local co-op dw

        • BG3 is couch coop as well

    • I got super excited reading the first 2 priced then saw Baldurs Gate 3 is still at a price where I’m happy to keep a pirated copy.

  • +1

If you haven't played BG3 yet, give it a shot. It's great.

  • wish they would make a portals 3… loved those games

    • try portal revolution, single player but there's also lots of other community workshop maps you can play that also support coop
