Travelling to The US - Best Way to Setup Dual Sims?

I have an S24+ dual sim phone (my model supports enabling 1x nano and 1x esim at the same time).
Currently I have a nano Telstra sim which I have the option to convert to esim.

I need to keep using my Aus number for incoming calls and texts when travelling.
I will be travelling to remote areas and need a premium travel data sim (fast, unlimited, reliable downloads) in the US. I'm looking to buy a travel sim from one of the major carriers in the US: T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon

Is nano sim still the most widely used sim for travellers in the US, or should I keep my Telstra number on nano sim try to get a travel esim in the US?
Or does it simply not matter and either is ok?

it doesn't matter, but the simplest would be to keep Telstra nano sim unchanged, get a US esim. Lots of options direct from US carriers too, a travel sim isn't really necessary.

Get an eSIM. I’ve used TravelKon for a US trip (USA T-Mobile Travel eSIM | Unlimited Data, Calls & Text | 30 Days | Add-on: (Canada + Mexico (5GB) & Intl. Calls & Text - T-Mobile eSIM USA 30 Days - Unlimited) and had no issues

For Aus phones (particularly Android), the T-Mobile network is most likely to be compatible, then Verizon, then AT&T. Definitely check that before buying (most travel sim sites have details on this).

  • You're going to pay for roaming and a local Sim?

    • No, you don't need to pay for roaming on Telstra. VoWifi works fine, using a local 2nd SIM for data.

Optus and Voda do not allow this.

      • Ahh ok. Thanks for clarifying
