[USA] 30-Day eSIM Free Trial (5G Network, 100GB Data, Domestic Calling Only) @ Verizon Wireless

1100

Verizon Free Trial gives you up to 30 days of Verizon service free of charge, including:

Unlimited talk and texting
Up to 100 GB of 4G/5G Premium data* on Verizon's premium network
480p streaming with 4G/5G Nationwide; 4K streaming with 5G Ultra Wideband*

You'll have domestic calling only during the trial. International services and add-on features aren't included.

Can confirm this worked with an iPhone-12 activating from a nomad esim data only plan, not sure if your phone needs an existing plan on it first. I did not need to change countries in the Apple App store, left it as Australian.

You can try the 7-day google fi trial first (works easily on android), but be sure to cancel
https://fi.google.com/about/free-trial

You must be in the US for this to work, myself and others have tried to get it to activate prior to going, it won't work and you'll get an error message saying you've already used the trial

This would send shivers down the travel sim card companies if it works easily.

    • only for USA

      • If one goes to the USA from Australia, they are travelling, no?

        • +1

yes absolutely. but there are many other countries Australians travel to. so travel sim card companies may not be shivering.

          • +4

@ltwo: what if it's really cold.

            • @andresampras: then maybe. but hopefully they aren't struggling that badly that they cannot afford heating in their workplaces.

            • @andresampras: Maybe shriveling too.

  • +1

You're ineligible for Verizon's Free Trial at this time.
Because you participated in Verizon's Free Trial within the last six months, you won't be able to access another Free Trial at this time.

    🙄

    • +1

It's because you're not in the US. I was getting that message with both my phones, vpn, etc while in Australia

      • +4

Wait, what? So it doesn't even work with VPN in Aus? How do we get it in Aus then?

        • Wonder if location spoofer works.

          • @nightelves: Not a bad idea

            • +1

@illumination: This is a 5G deal. I believe your phone needs to communicate with a Verizon tower.

              • @bio: @bio is correct. can confirm thats the case.

      • +2

You should put that you need to be in the USA in your post for it to work as I also did the vpn as well with the same results as “illumination”

        • I hadn't tried (yet) - was just asking hypothetically.

          • @illumination: Sorry. Well in that case Save yourself the trouble and don’t waste your time like I did.
I’m not being ungrateful but would have savde me the time and others that may try it from here in Australia.

        • +1

          Added, great idea

      • Is this a limited-time offer or runs for long? I’d be in the US in 10 days.

        • +2

It's been running for ages, but I highly recommend trying Google fi 7 day trial first as soon as you land, it seems to be the simplest to get going.

          • @TEER3X: Im in the US now. It keeps showing me “Looks like you aren’t signed into your Apple ID or iCloud”. I’m signed in though. Logged out and logged in back. Same error. Any clue?

  • Wish it wasn't just esim. Going there soon would have been perfect

    • +1

They should push for esim harder. The technology is great.

      • -3

        Until you format the phone

        • isn't it as simple as requesting an esim replacement? how often do people format their phones?

          • +1

@ltwo: …or water damage your phone and it doesn’t turn on or break your phone or brick your phone etc etc. I think there are many scenarios you’d end up with no sim. If the QR code to activate the e-sim last for ever (with additional security methods - password protection may be? or something else), I think it will be better.

        • -1

Have you used esim before? It's just a QR code that you scan to activate the sim. I've deleted my esim and re-added it back in countless of times.

          • @nightelves: I can add multiple esims and swap them whenever I want and instantly

          • @nightelves: Oh I didn’t know that. I thought the QR code was of single-use. Thanks for educating.

            • +4

@YouSirName: It is single-use. You have to get a new QR code. You can't re-use the same one.

              • @illumination: Wait but your roaming esim I was able to add and re-add again just fine.

                • @nightelves: Ok I'm really surprised. I don't think that's supposed to be the case…!

                  Might try it out later

      • Yeh it's great if you're phone supports esim

I think its fair. If there can be deals for Japan Rail pass - which is niche, I don't see the issue with this niche deal. Still helpful for people looking at deals in the travel-sim section.

  • This is brilliant.

  • I arrived in the US for the first time in my life yesterday. I have been hunting around for an esim prepaid Verizon and AT&T all day. And finally today found one and paid US$42. AND NOW THIS DEAL CROPS UP!!!!!!

    Looks like T-Mobile does 3 months: https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/free-trial

Seriously? Are we really posting deals from other countries on the off-chance that some people here might be travelling to those destinations? Should we also consider posting deals from the Dominican Republic and Belarus since some people in AU might be visiting those places in the near future?

    • +2

Honestly there's a report button for "Not Available to Australia" but seeing as the other deal was allowed to stay up I'm not even sure why it's still an option?

    • If you do not want to see deals tagged with Travel SIM Cards, you can hide the tag. Do so by clicking "Travel SIM Cards" click the ellipsis (…) menu and then check both boxes.

      • +2

One of the reasons for reporting a deal is that it's not available in Australia. This deal is not available in Australia.

goddamn it I paid $40aud for a 12 day T-Mobile sim from amazon last week, such is life. Could be worse. Like that bloke above who paid 40USD less than a day ago.

  • Google FI app not available on Australian iOS App Store FYI

    • Yes it is

  • -3

This is the lowest IQ thread yet.

  • The app store tells me
"this item is not available in your country", even though I am physically in the US right now.

    • Don't think it's about your physical country, but rather, the country of the Google profile that your phone is currently browsing the Play Store with.

      • How can I change the country?

        • If you're using android just google the .APK file

apkpure has been around for a long time, I've downloaded from there with no issues.

  • +1

Thanks for this - currently in the States at the moment and using this. Took about 5min to get it up and running (have a feeling that was mainly due to the slow wifi I was on) on an iPhone. Downloaded the app in AU then ran through the process once I landed. Speeds and coverage are good so far.

    • It asks me for a US mobile number. What do you put in there? It's showing mandatory to me.

      • Keen to know also, i'm going on Saturday

        • Just my experience: wasted two days on it. Tried online chat, calling customer service and in store. Everyone kept pawning off to the other. In the end I just got a Tello plan. Cost me US$14.xx (AU$ 22.xx) through esim and I have 30 days unlimited calls, text and data. No contract.

If you want to try it (as an OZbargainer, U have to or lose your licence), download the APK for My Verizon app unless you can change your play store licence to US. (Don't know about App store)

          • @rdhupar: I'm going for just over 30 days, and have already bought a tmobile sim and an att sim for partner
We both should have US numbers with those sims so hopefully can then activate this trial from that number

I was able to download app from Aus apple store

            • @Brick50: I had a Simsdirect number (which again was a total waste as it didn't just work plug and play) which I used to sign up. The only thing I can assume is they are probably reusing numbers and someone has used that number before.

              Good luck

              • @rdhupar: Thanks, I also have a sims direct number for another phone. Any tips?

                • @Brick50: I just ended up buying a Tello Sim out of frustration. Also, my Sims direct Sim did not work for data out of the box which meant the whole point of getting it before reaching was defeated. Make sure you change your phone to only use 4g/3g/2g or 3g/2g. Don't leave it on 5g option as no data will work. Also, look at changing the APN for mobile internet. Figured it out after reaching the hotel and honestly bought it for plug and play which it wasn't (for me at least)

I just arrived in the US today and got it set up. Use a temporary free sms service like https://www.receivesms.org/ to input a local US number into the sign on process. They don’t send an sms to verify or anything, the form just needs a legit number. Now I have a boost sim and Verizon esim for data on iPhone 14 pro.

    • thx for sharing :) was wondering how im gonna get a US number.

  • Easy set up on 14 pro max, I have an existing US sim which I used the number for to set up the free trial.
No need to enter any card details etc.

  • Anyone managed to get this working on Android? I'm in the USA and downloaded the My Verizon app via APK mirror (couldn't download through Google Play as not available in my country came up). I've tried a few different name/phone/email address combinations and keep getting the "You're ineligible for Verizon's Free Trial at this time.
Because you participated in Verizon's Free Trial within the last six months, you won't be able to access another Free Trial at this time." message.

    • Sounds like the app thinks you’re still in Australia. Can you connect to local wifi so it connects and knows you’re in the US?

  • Could anyone share if I'll be able to download the Verizon App on my iPhone when I travel there? What about Country settings on App Store, do I need to change anything?

As of now, I am unable to see Verizon App on the App Store when in Aus.

    • I can see it from Aus with a normal Aus itunes account on iPhone 14. It's this one: https://apps.apple.com/au/app/my-verizon/id416023011

      • Thanks a lot. I was able to download it from the direct link. But it does not show up if I just search on the App Store.

        • I dont think you can enable it though until your arrive there, correct? (needs to connect to a local cell tower)

      • I’m getting “can’t connect to iTunes Store” when trying the above link? Anyone else have any luck?

        • For anyone else - needed to access the US iTunes store to get the app

  • Does this include tethering? If so, at what speed?

    • Tethering was blocked when i tried on iPhone.

  • Anyone actually managed to get Verizon to recognise their IMEI with this?

    • No luck with my son's AU purchased iphone. Tried the techniques mentioned on the internet.

  • Any suggestions of Zip Codes that this offer is applicable for? been to few cities and tried - keeps returning to "you're ineligible for Verizon's Free Trial at this time"

  • Cannot get the Verizon or the T Mobile trial offers to work on my Samsung S21+ and my partner's Flip4, both unlocked Australian stock.

Also tried with a new Google account with a USA address. Was able to download the Verizon and apps restricted to the USA directly from Google Play.

This phone might not be compatible with eSIM.

Error is BS. No problem with the Red Bull Mobile or Google Fi esim deals.

I think they might be limiting the trial to devices with USA IMEI.

Reading through the comments, it looks like people who were able to obtain the free trial are on iPhones.

  • Currently in the US but getting an error message that my phone isn't compatible, I have s23 ultra that isn't network locked.

  • It is tricky, my son gave up with his AU iPhone. I think he picked up a physical Verizon sim.

    • Yeah it just kept loading on my AU iPhone. Has anyone got it working? Ended up getting T-Mobile prepaid…

  • It didn't work for me in iPhone 14. It says your phone is locked with another carrier.

  • Couldn't get it to work with an Fold 4. First issue couldn't download it from the play store.

Second loaded APK two different sources apkmirror and apkpure… Whilst in the USA.
Both report "This phone might not be compatible with eSIM.
Unfortunately, this device can't enroll in Verizon's Free Trial, but you can still use this device on America's most reliable network."

  • Can anyone confirm if this deal has worked for them in the past few weeks/months on an iPhone?

    • Update: this worked and I was able to set it up after arriving

      • How mate, I saw you got it set up on an iPhone. Do you mind running through your process please?

  • Works for me and fam.
Three trials activated, very easy, no credit card required, just use a hotel contact number as an existing us number in the sign-up
