Or $46.50 delivered from hkofferhouse.
Reputable source where I've bought several genuine ones before.
Also available from amazonUK for $54 and most likely would arrive quicker than COTD too.

As already mentioned, a far cheaper, more reliable seller alternative.
not a deal, especially coming from cotd. Why?
because if it was a really good deal, you wouldn't be able to access that page to buy it.
and/or they would only have 3 in stock :)
I jump at the chance to neg COTD. I bet if they had this yesterday it would have been $0.00 with $79.99 shipping.
Seriously COTD can't be that bad… so far never had a bad experience. Yes the postage is a bit slow and I think it would be slower now considering they have a postage cap of $12, can't imagine what budget postal system they will be using now.
Seriously I got negged for that comment? Geez the hate for COTD must be strong, I shall take note.
Yup COTD suck. Sometimes QQQ will post a genuine bargain but most of the time COTD should be avoided.
there is no smoke without fire.
apparently if you search for past cotd posts on here… few people got their fingers burnt, and even on subsequent deals where they give them another chance.. they got burnt again.
whether it's true or not, you can make your own conclusions by reading/searching.
In the COTD ad they say "Your 12 month warranty against defects means you can ignore any of the manufacturer inserts and come straight to our customer care help centre". ummmm … NO THANKS. I'd rather pay double than deal with COTD customer non-service.
you will probably find that these are grey imports with no local warranty
Wouldn't the Australian Consumer Laws look after that then? Since we are buying from an Australian Retailer? Although I wouldn't expect speedy service, just look at the comments on forums about the lack of service afterwards.
Wouldn't the Australian Consumer Laws look after that then?
in what way?
COTD are the importers and offering there own warranty (how ever dodgy that warranty is). just because its a sony branded item does not mean sony australia needs to cover it here if its not a local market stock. this is why they are telling you to ignore any manufacturer warranty, because it simply does not exist and they are just trying to put a positive spin on an otherwise negative point
Pretty sure even though it is imported, COTD will still need to honour the warranty under our ACL. However I think the hard part is getting COTD to honour the warranty, because like you said I don't think the local distributors would honour a warranty for goods purchased overseas.
Just had a quick look at this page - http://www.consumerlaw.gov.au/content/Content.aspx?doc=fact_…
" Quality products and services
All products must be safe, durable, free from defects, fit for purpose, acceptable in appearance, match its description and match any sample or demonstration model.
All services must be delivered with care and skill.
Businesses must honour all guarantees, including express and extended warranties."
I ain't no lawyer but pretty sure they would still legally be required to look after any returns/repairs/replacements. If not you could complain to the local office of the ACCC.
Pretty sure even though it is imported, COTD will still need to honour the warranty
yes, that is… more or less… what i said.
the only warranty you have is with COTD not with sony or any other warranty agent in aus.
i think the way it works (and im by no means a consumer lawyer) is you have to send it back to COTD at your expense, then they repair or replace at there convenience, or send it back to what ever country they bought them from, and eventually send you an item back. im not sure who needs to cover return post but it may well be the you. and theres no limit on the time COTD can take and there is not even any actual need for COTD to fix anything, once it gets back to them they could well say that you broke it by being to rough on it or something then it would be up to you to prove otherwise.
a lot of companys warrantys goes well above and beyond what the law enforces simply to keep unhappy customers (who has to warranty something) from geting any more unhappy.
COTD have a long history and are well known for how dodgy they are when it comes to selling things, there after sales cant be any better than that so its a downhill ride from there on. basically good luck getting a satisfactory outcome in a satisfactory time frame.
and all for what? the privilege of paying more than any equivalent product available (little bit cheaper in australia with local warranty, or lots cheaper to bring in your own grey import, or want it today walk into JB and pay $1 more for local product)
Even just grab one from JBHiFi for $59 (or +$1 postage). $3 more than CoTD but without the hassle.
