CR has 4% off catch gift card, to save a bit more

    • +10

cant use promo code and gift card together :(

      • +1

Was just about to to warn this

      • Last post people suggested using an app.

      • I did when it was $99 with a promo code

    • +12

      Last 2 days were weekend.

    • Weekend does not count bro!
Plus it usually takes 3-5 weekdays.

    • Your SIM card will be dispatched to your delivery address and can take up to 8 days via regular mail.

    • Click bait ⁉️

In case you want it now, eSim could be the solution and should be instant. Currently you can get Kogan eSim 140GB for $119 (11GB/$10/m) or 300GB for $219 (25GB/$18/m). Also to note that the difference is Vodafone (kogan) vs optus (catch).

  • Comments on Optus 4g plus network from the ozbargain brains trust?

    • really just depends where you live if optus 4g is good for you and you are not a heavy data user, i had put both my parents on it, they will complain if something is wrong, and it is up in feb and haven't had any complaints for a whole year

      • +7

Maybe you are receiving no complaints because they have no signal!

        • i live with them, they call 24/7 lol

          • @cephh: Maybe better to get them on internet calling.

    • +3

Optus 4g plus has come A MASSIVE way if you haven't used it in the last 5 years. i've moved a bunch of people away from telstra to plans like this with 0 complaints.

    • Optus is actually superior for most of regional VIC now. It's only in the really off the track places that Telstra will still work and Optus won't. Ie. Some areas near Mt Hotham.

    • +1

If you are ever out of the metro area then don't do it unless you are happy to rely on using a phone from someone on the Telstra network. Aldi $119 1 Year Super Pack 60GB Data uses Telstra retail network but you can only transition to it through a higher cost pack when they offer it.

      • I believe that Aldi uses the wholesale network not the retail network which means less coverage

        • Yes. Boost Mobile has access to Telstra's entire mobile network. Aldi Mobile does not have this full access.

    • +1

I've catch for over a year now… I've been really happy with it… I'm not fussed about 5G… 4G is fast enough for me plus i found 5G drains your battery.
I don't stream much on my phone though.. only youtube..

  • Ordered and received order confirmation on their website.
Then received this email that order cancelled a few moments later.

    Dear name,

We regret to inform you that your recent purchase from Catch.com.au (Order: C6123456) did not meet our payment verification standards, resulting in your order being cancelled. At Catch, we adhere strictly to comprehensive payment verification protocols to ensure the security of transactions, and these measures are in place to protect our customers and ensure the integrity of our transactions.

A reversal of funds has been initiated for this transaction. The funds should appear in your account according to your bank’s processing times.

If you believe this was a mistake, or if you wish to attempt another purchase, we recommend:
Double-checking the payment details entered, including the billing address and card information.
Ensuring that your payment method has sufficient funds and has not expired.
Contacting your bank or card issuer to ensure there are no holds or restrictions on your card that might prevent online transactions.
Removing multiple addresses linked to your account, as this may trigger alerts if the billing and shipping addresses differ or if unfamiliar addresses are used.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your understanding.

    • Try ordering again and pay with PayPal this time.

    • +1

are you paying with anz? family members had this issue

      • Yes, ANZ credit card
I wonder if going through PayPal will negate this ?

        • yeah, some reason anz and anz plus does not worth with catch, i had a commbank card that i used, not sure if paypal would negate it, but definitely give it a crack

          • @cephh: I tried. Now it won’t allow me to use the discount code for $10 off. I can only use it once and as per their cart I’ve already redeemed it, which I have
            Lolz
Wondering if it is worth chasing up their customer care over $10 or look elsewhere who knows how to run an ecommerce website

  • If you are already on catch connect, can you buy this and use it to recharge or do you need to port out and port back in?

    • +2

It is advertised for new services so you are meant to port out and port back in.

    • you need to port out and back in, unless you play dumb like I did last year.. they renewed mine so i didn't have to port but they said they would only do it this time…

  • +4

Does it have free minutes for international call?

    • I have the same question. From my quick look, it needs 'catch extra' call overseas.. but pls correct me if interbational call is included.

  • For those wondering, Catch website does not tell you when it dispatches since they don't send the SIM via Registered Post.
Just keep an eye on your letterbox for the next 5 business days.

Does this mean it needs to be activated by 28 Jan? It says whichever date is earlier.

      • Thanks. Thinking of swapping to this after current sim plan.
Does anyone know if we can receive sms for banking etc while overseas with CatchConnect? I could when I was with Boost a couple years ago.

        • +1

Spoke to customer support as I had the same question. Thy confirmed you can receive SMS's if you are connected to wifi.

          • @topguy13: Thanks. Don't understand why you need to be connected to Wifi to receive sms. Wonder if it's like wifi calling.

        • I can confirm was abroad last year with Catch connect. Could receive SMS on their roaming networks. Don't know what the wifi is all about?

  • eSim?

    • Unfortunately not. Confirmed with Catch Connect.

  • Does anyone know what plans are coming after 28/1? Need to weigh up porting before (cutting short previous plan) or after that date (more expensive yearly plan since they're getting rid of $150 plan)

    • +1

I rang Catch Connect who said when you are on this plan, you can stay on this plan. It won't be available to new customers. However they didn't reveal what will replace this plan for new customers.
Was also told Catch Connect is not shutting down although Catch will be shut down.

  • +3

saw this on abc news website this morning:
    "Wesfarmers to shut down Catch.com.au"

      • +1

There is a new thread in forums - Catch will stop trading 30 April 2025 as per their webiste

    • I wonder what will happen to those who are on 365-day plans that expire after the shutdown.

      • +4

Wesfarmers will forget about it and you will have free mobile forever.

  • Took up one of these deals last year, 3 weeks no sim. Took another 2 weeks to get the refund.

    • Yikes. I got a refund within 2 days of informing them that 2 sims I ordered didn't arrive. I then ordered another 2 yesterday to replace those ones. Hopefully they will arrive!

Greetings, I ordered a SIM on the 16th, it is yet to be dispatched, but just now I got an email notification that Catch is shutting down permanently in April. I am worried that my 12 month SIM plan will be affected, anyone else in the same boat?

      • They say that we will see what happens. A sale at this time seems questionable

  • -2

I would not risk it even though the claim not closing catch connect.

Suggest those who are with Catch Connect port out main number before it’s too late. Good luck to those just started.

Of course no big deal if you are only using the service for disposable numbers.

  • Catch.com.au will shut the door at the end of Apr 2025, last test they lost 40 millions, so, every deal is risk or not, it's up to the individual.

  • if i buy this today, would i still be elegible for the $150 plan given I wont receive the sim before the sale ends?

  • Anyone having trouble receiving port message from catch?

Activate within 30 days after purchase is the real catch.

Otherwise you can stock this up and replace say your Boost mobile which expires end of the year

Appears Catch mobile uses Optus 4G plus network. You won't get 5G but it's a good low budget plan

  • I purchased on 06/01/2025, shall I follow the 30days rule?

    • Up to you

  • +1

Test this provider in your area before getting a 12 month sim. I neglected to do this, the reception was woeful and I was (and still am) too much of a tight arse to switch away before the 12 months was up.

  • Anyone have any experience with what occurs if not activated within 30 days ?? It says you have 24 months to activate the sim.

My current 365 plan doesn't expire until late March so trying to delay it I purchase

    • +9

My understanding is that the SIM has a 2 year expiry. The 30 days to activate is applicable only when something like bonus data is offered, e.g the SIM is 120GB plus 50GB bonus on activation. In this situation, if you don't activate within 30 days you don't get the extra 50GB.

As this plan is a flat 120GB with no bonuses, then we have 2 years before it expires. I am currently on the 60GB 1 year plan and I know I bought that in Oct 2023 and activated it in late Feb 2024 so that was 4 months. A reminder you will need to port out of Catch Connect before you come back on the new SIM you purchase.
