Courtesy reminder if you pay via Paypal, it will not give you option what currency to pay in, so PP will automatically charge you in AUD according to PP’s atrocious conversion rate.

    • +1

@tightarse may we know the end date to this deal please? 🙏 TIA

      • Hi, and thanks for the tag! This is set to end 23:59 AEDT tomorrow (Sunday) unless PureVPN pulls it earlier (highly unlikely).

Here’s a few tips if I may. Prior to using TopCashback, disable/remove all 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, and avoid browsers such as Brave. Ensure you accept cookies on PureVPN's landing page if requested, which holds true for any retailer.

Also important to remember that should tracking fail for whatever reason, please cancel using their free 31-day money-back guarantee policy. No point lodging a claim to possibly have it rejected by PureVPN as attributed elsewhere.

At the moment tracking is taking around 60-90 minutes, but always allow 24 hours due to varying factors (API stalling, reporting delays etc). Most orders are currently reporting cashback at $223 & $117.

        Enjoy the weekend ahead guys!

        • At the moment tracking is taking around 60-90 minutes, but always allow 24 hours

I bought the NordVPN CB deal 2 days ago, and the Everyday Mobile and Felix Mobile ones 3 days ago, and am yet to see them tracked in my account. I went to submit support tickets for them, per the site's instructions, and see in the form that the click throughs have been recorded, and are in the system somewhere. Admittedly, I used Brave browser, which I now you see from your instructions to avoid, but did not see any warnings about when using the site or the app.

          • +6

@wisdomtooth: And they won't track. Do not use Brave. Open “What else is essential” for any retailer on TopCasback and you’ll see the following:

Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.

I can assure you that NordVPN will not pay on your cashback claim if you used Brave. Please close the claim and request a refund via their 30-day guarantee. I also have the following at the base of all my TCB posts:

For tracking success, disable/remove all 3rd party plugins (AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, Honey, etc), VPNs, avoid browsers such as Brave, close additional browser tabs, and don't click away to other sites looking for codes etc after clicking from TopCashbackAU as tracking will be lost. TopCashbackAU must be the very last click/tap prior to purchase. Try our iOS/Android mobile app for improved tracking results. Use our Help Centre & Contact form here for any questions, issues, or claims.

            • @tightarse:

              Please close the claim

              I didn't lodge one.

and request a refund via their 30-day guarantee.

Done. Anything I can do about Felix and Everyday Mobile? I can see by the date and times in the dropdown menu of the support ticket screen they've been recorded in the system somehow (same with NordVPN, but didn't wanna risk it anyhow, so cancelled it anyway)…

              • +1

@wisdomtooth: Hi. Clicks are always recorded no matter what. A click is however no guarantee of tracking or converting to a sale due to some of the blockers I mentioned above. If you can cancel and re-order via a clean browser/app, then that's the best option. Else lodge a claim and we'll do our best with the retailer. Please remember we always want claims to be successful as it means we get paid too. Hope this helps.

                • @tightarse:

If you can cancel and re-order via a clean browser/app, then that's the best option.

Managed a refund via chat from Everyday Mobile too, thanks.

          • @snuke: Have you tried tethering to mobile data (4G/5G) in case it's an issue with your ISP or router? Also, try the TCB app using mobile data.

            • @tightarse: Tethering to mobile made zero difference.
App works both via wifi and 5G

As did switching to Safari browser on desktop.

Seems like a Chrome related issue.

              • @snuke: I've been testing on Chrome & Edge and can't replicate your issue at all. Redirects fine through to PureVPN, so I'm really not sure what could be causing this for you, sorry!

                • @tightarse: I have had this issue before, with either Cash Rewards or Shopback and I think Amazon or ebay
As the purchase price and cashback was so low, I didn't care. I loaded the Vendor page form the error page by typing URL, and the transaction was tracked. Fine to risk for pissy little amounts, wouldn't trust that in this situation.

                  • @snuke: Safari has it's share of issues too and is notorious for blocking cookies with particular default settings. Let us know how your tracking goes. Thankfully you have the safety net of the free cancellation :)

                    • @tightarse: @tightarse if it’s been more than 30 days can we buy again with the same email, same payment method?

And after purchase do you need to actually use/log in to your account or purely just complete the purchase?

                      • @Brick50: You can buy again after 30 days, however using the same email address will mean you’re not a new customer for PureVPN so it won't track.

                    • @tightarse: It shows on my TC account that it tracked.

                      • @snuke: Great work. Did you track $223 or $117?

                        • @tightarse: Purchase $172.12
                          Cashback $233.75

                          • @snuke: I think you mean $223.75, but very nice. Enjoy the $$ 🤗

        • Hi, how can I cancel the free 31 day money back please ?

          • @ZeyWoX: Hi. I believe their online chat function is the easiest way.

        • Hi there
I ordered already, but when I checked TC "My Visited" section, it showed "PureVPN" in "My Browsed Merchants", but nothing in "My Visited Merchants", does that mean it was tracked or not?

          • @czking: Hi. If it tracked, it will show the order details in your earnings page here.

    • unfortunately prefer to pay via paypal rather than enter card details in

      • I use Paypal and select NOT to use their FX as my Wise card is there for that. Main thing is to pay US$ not AU and remember to select country that doesn’t have tax to avoid the 10% GST which doesn’t get Cashback on that portion.

        • +1

You must be thinking of NordVPN.
PureVPN doesn't give you options for any of that, even in Paypal

          • @wangasm: Yep no option to change currency back to USD for the purevpn transaction unlike other paypal transactions

          • @wangasm: No, I just checked my screen recording when I purchased on 27Sep24. I paid using my Wise Cr/Card (via Paypal) in $US back on 27Sep24. Payment and FX show on my Wise card so definitely worked.
Perhaps their systems have changed in the last 4 months?

            • @Borg: No, even since Aug last year they had no option to choose currency upon checkout via Paypal. Many others have confirmed the same.

              • @noelhoi: Ah ok, I paid in US$, and must have been the default from the get go.

My initial reply was more related to the comment of "unfortunately prefer to pay via paypal". I was noting that it was fine and no drama's checking out via Paypal and using my Wise card as payment in US$.

    • +2

The reason why you need Wise account for Paypal ;-)

No currency conversion from PayPal by using my Wise virtual card. I have USD balance in my Wise account. PayPal charged me exactly the same from PureVPN purchase.

    • If I have US$ in my Paypal balance, will it still convert to AUD first and then US$ again?

      • That I’m not sure maybe others can help, @neoleo
But i suspect since Paypal will always use PP balance first, if you already have $USD in your balance, it will take it straight out of there?

        • +1

Paypal will use our chosen default payment. My default payment is Wise virtual card, then PayPal balance, then my other card. I only chose my Wise virtual card as the default and don't have PayPal balance at all ($0).

I disable most of my cards and only enable them when I need them ;-) So, no surprise expected lol.

      • If you choose your USD PayPal balance as the default, no currency conversion.

I have USD balance in Wise and use Wise virtual card in Paypal (default payment). No currency conversion too.

    • How come? Normally you can pick which currency conversion you want? Either PayPal or credit card

      • Hang on lemme ask the bois at PureVPN why they being PITA…
        .
        .
Nope, no reason, perks of giving us free $$ i guess.

        • Well I don't think it's a good idea to save a few bucks at the risk of giving out credit card details directly

          • @neonlight: That's why everyone should have Wise/Revolut account with Disposable virtual card and/or use Paypal instead. Merchants won't get our real card numbers.

            • @neoleo: wise charges a fee to convert AUD to USD

              • @geshc: Better than Paypal or any banks

                • @neoleo: That's true! The rate's cheaper than paypal for sure. If you got a fee free card though, it's pretty similar too.

                  WISE:
                  109.95 USD = 178.26 AUD (including 66c Wise fee)

                  Citi/NAB
                  109.95 USD = 178.40 AUD

Btw, do you know if we can cancel the auto subscription right away without it affecting the cashback?

                  • @geshc: Because I usually use Paypal, I can cancel automatic subscription in Paypal. Usually I disable the virtual card or get new virtual cards from Wise. So, no surprise lol.

                    Remember:
Bank cards can be charged again for any subscriptions like VPN, Amazon Prime/Music, etc.

This is the reason why I use Wise/Revolut. I can have 3 Wise virtual cards, disable or delete/replace and get max 3 new virtual cards again (new numbers). Repeat ;-) No surprise from any subscriptions …

Revolut is different (basic card, no monthly fee). Only 1 Disposable virtual card (single use), and the rest are virtual cards that can be charged again for subscription.

    Terrible vpn
Even the 30% profit doesn’t justify it

    • +4

      Whats so bad about it?

      • The Pure VPN Mac app is terrible! Unnecessary popups, app freezes. I had a try it via the manual config which is better, but location management isn't easily accessible… Yes it's cheap but no, it's not good…
Tried their support - no help.
        Not worth yout time….

        • Agreed the app is terrible, performance isn't bad though.

    • +4

If you visit Middle East countries where WhatsApp, Facebook, IG calling are banned, even NordVPN struggles to unblock it.

PureVPN worked like a charm everytime. It's not the fastest, but works in a wide range of scenarios, even got me on Netflix!

      • +1

Well, I am glad it’s proven to be very handy for you.

      • What is the risk with Amazon prime video if you use this to watch US shows!?

        • My Amazon Prime video subs from Turkey was booted. TBH, I was paying them for no reason as I barely used to watch anything, so I guess I don't mind that.

    • +1

Who said you need to use the service?
I only sign up for the profit. It's not a requirement to use their service to get the cashback.

Can you sign up, get the bonus and never use it again?

      • +2

yeah I did that last time, I think it took around 3 months to get the money

      • Yes, only sign up and forget the VPN account. Never use the VPN with that account. Get the cashback. Repeat ;-)

Use Paypal and/or virtual card from Wise or Revolut Disposable card. We can cancel automatic payment in PayPal. I can disable or even delete Wise virtual card. Repeat ;-)

    • +1

That plan is showing as $109.95 for me…has the price dropped this morning? Edit: Just realised the site is USD.

@tightarse are add-ons included in the cashback?

      Order Summary
      trust pilot

      Max
      2-year plan ($4.07/mo)
      $538.65

      Port Forwarding ($1.49/mo)
      $35.76
      Got a coupon code?
      Total$590.59

Would this get me $767.767 cashback?

      • +3

Add-ons are generally always excluded from VPN cashback. I’ve asked the OP to edit the terms accordingly. Thanks for raising it.

Cashback is eligible only on 1-year, 2-year, and monthly plans (Standard, Plus, Max). Cashback is ineligible on 5-year plan, Teams multi-user plans, and/or add-ons.

        • +1

Would add-ons invalidate the entire cashback amount or does it calculate based on the base plan cost?

          • +2

@flugel: Just the add-ons. Exactly the same way it does for NordVPN.

    • +1

I have $223 pending estimated 14 weeks. Currency conversion fees excluded.

  • Anybody else getting thus error-"sorry we can't process your request at this moment"

  • Why do they do this?

Who benefits from this other than the consumer?

    • +2

The VPN provider does it to get you to renew at the end of the term at full price.

      • The reason why I use Paypal and/or virtual card from Wise or Revolut Disposable card. We can cancel automatic payment in PayPal. I can disable or even delete Wise virtual card. Repeat ;-)

      • I only use a credit card that I know I will cancel before "renewal"

  • +4

I hope their VPN speeds are faster than their site…

    Edit: Test results…
NordVPN is NordLynx, PureVPN is OVPN

    Home connection 1Gbps:
    NoVPN: 927/47Mbps
    NordVPN: 891/45Mbps
    PureVPN: 262Mbps/23Mbps
    BulletVPN: 821/46Mbps

(Even bulletvpn, a lifetime plan, beat purevpn)

    Sydney VPS (1Gbps)
    NordVPN: 491/398Mbps
    PureVPN: 265/263Mbps

    Stockholm (10Gbps)
    NordVPN: 1001.70/492.1Mbps
    PureVPN ~260Mbps, UL failed

    Amsterdam (1Gbps)
    NordVPN: Untested
    PureVPN: ~160Mbps/50Mbps

    • +3

Redid speedtest on home connection, 779/46Mbps

Ping times for EUW league (as a test):
      NoVPN: 297ms
      Perth PureVPN: 244ms
      Perth NordVPN: 250ms
      Exitlag: 253ms

Their peering is actually pretty good for lowering ping. (Perth is the best server for EUW usually)

Tried Wireguard config files, gets over 1Gbps on 10Gbit servers in LA.

        • -2

          Speak in English man!

          • @Flyerone: Wireguard is a newer, faster VPN protocol than OpenVPN

It appears their Wireguard connections are much faster than their OpenVPN ones

            • @Dyl: Thanks for that explanation.

        • Thanks for all the testing @Dyl
What's the best protocol to use for Nord for the lowest latency?

I got another 2 year subscription from them again. Is there any provider with a better lag?

          • @Schrodinger: Latency is similar with all, but nordlynx or wireguard is considered the fastest protocols (NordLynx is their version of wireguard, built into their app)

Depending what you're connecting to you have to try essentially all providers to find the lowest, no single provider is the lowest for everything

            • @Dyl: Thanks! I remember using something that gave better performance between two routers - could have been something older like PPTP.
              I'll give NordLynx a try.

    • Thanks for sharing. PIA VPN speeds have gotten pretty crap lately too, getting low to mid 200Mbps local Sydney server and it gets worse from there. Although i seem to get double switching the protocol in client to Wireguard. Will have to keep an eye out for a Nord deal i think.
