      • I just had mine delivered. The resolution isn't the best but it seems better than my obdpeak k2.

Went the bigger size for my father. Fingers crossed it’s alright!

    • I'm going to trial mine for a month or two and if all good I'll be purchasing one for my dad too.

  • +2

Got one to try. Sure there are similar for cheaper on eBay and AliExpress, but I'm hoping warranty via Amazon will be essier

  • There is another upgraded version 2025 from the same company. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DFQ6VT79/

    • Thank you for pointing this out. What’s changed?

      • The latest one is for ~$65 dearer but has a IPS screen and an Amazon Choice badge with higher rated reviews.

  • This will be great for a Tesla. I mean for the money you'd expect this, but lol.

  • Thanks OP. Anyone have any recommendations for one without the front dash cam, but can bluetooth x2 phones simultaneously for calls?

  • I’m confused. You still need a phone? Anyone has recommendations on a standalone where no mobile phone is needed. Thanks

    • Yes, you definately still need your phone for this. I too thought a standalone one was the way to go, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the performance of this unit and the way at which it just works seamlessly, once setup, with your phone

      • I already have car play on my car. I need a standalone for Waze and then my car screen for music.

        • Fair enough. This is a good cheap solution for older vehicles.

        • A standalone unit will be more expensive as need more powerful hardware. I tried an Android tablet, but heat was a problem with the built-in battery.
How about this plus a second phone, kept plugged in, in the car, to run Waze?
Otherwise look for Android units, with 4GB + 64 GB minimum.

          • @bargaino: Thanks for the suggestion. I got a iPhone SE 2nd gen which I can leave it plugged in.

        • +1

You can get the carlinkit tbox which will connect through your car play port to run full android. I tested this in my partner's car, you can download and sideload apps and run full android apps as well as carplay and android auto. We ended up returning it though as we preferred just running android auto on the carlinkit 5.0 air since it runs the apps we need in driving mode whereas the tbox won't run regular driving mode in maps.

        • can't you split screen with both, my carplay does

  • If this connects to the car via bt, how does it connect to your phone?

    • +2

      It's magic baby!

      Bluetooth

    • you need one with dual bluetooth

    • +3

      It uses 5GHz "Wifi Direct".

      • +1

Oh, good to know, thanks folks.
So it supports dual BT devices.

        • That does not logically follow. The 2 are independent. All wireless AA devices use Wifi.

A bluetooth device can run multiple profiles, and be both an audio source and sink. Maybe the Android-app version has trouble with that?
These cheap units run a more barebones Linux.

          • @bargaino: Connects via wifi and BT.
First BT connects and then it establishes the wifi connection for Android Auto

            • @edrift: Ah thanks for the clarification.
So it doesn't connect via bt to all devices.
Bt to car and then wifi to phone. Thanks!

              • @Lord Ra: no that's not entirely correct.

For wireless android auto to work, it needs to connect bluetooth AND wifi to the phone.
Then if your car is equipped with bluetooth for calls and audio (there's a difference - my car only does BT calls not audio/music), it will connect from the unit to the car via bluetooth too. Therefore it's using two bluetooth connections - one to the car and one to the phone.

i dont think it can work with your phone without bluetooth as it must use both BT and wifi together.

    • +1

      Connects via Bluetooth and wifi.

  • Price changed to $167.99?

    • Nah they sold out.
That one is a different model

  • +1

Be careful when you stick this kind of thing on the dashboard, especially with older car. When I tried to remove it, it came off along with the vinyl surface as the adhersive is very strong.

Mine arrived this afternoon and I installed it already.

I didn't use the mounts but used 3M Velcro tape instead and for the most part concealed the wiring as much as I could.

It was a bit tricky to connect to Android Auto at first, but that's probably because I was trying to get my car to handle the calls directly instead of use it all via the android auto system. Once I accepted the defaults it worked fine.

Boot time is quick and a non issue.
Front and rear camera quality is excellent even in low light at nighttime.
I already had an existing front and rear dash cam, but this unit delivers even better picture quality. The frame rate seems smoother, resolution very sharp, and no noise in the picture (I get noise in my other reversing cam).

Screen looks sharp and vibrant. Resolution looks pretty decent too.

    Menus are simple and intuitive.

I'm using the aux connection because my stupid car doesn't allow Bluetooth media only Bluetooth calls. Sound quality is pretty good, but you do need to turn up the volume loud.

Inbuilt speaker quality was surprisingly loud and clear.
There's a hidden function too. If you use the internal speaker and plug in the aux cable, it will also play out of the aux port. That way you Can use it as a centre speaker.

    I would definitely recommend this.

Just got mine now, I share your sentiments here. So far so good!

    • Does urs says 2024 model on the box as well ?

      • +1

yes the sticker on the box says 2024.

  • Can someone share how heavy the entire thing is, with the camera but without the packing?

    • +1

Not heavy enough to slow down your lap times.

Similar to the weight of a phone I guess?

  • Just received mine, says 2024 APHQUA Wireless Apple Carplay on the box but listing was 2025 APHQUA Wireless Apple Carplay, any thoughts?

    • +3

just marketing. iw ouldn't lose sleep over it.

  • Received mine total, quick start up and bluetooth works well. I used the sticky pad to attach to the dash, will be interesting to see how secure it is when the wheels are moving. How have others found the install ?

    • +2

It lasted 24 hours. The sun melted the adhesive and the unit fell off. Plan b might be a cd rom holder as a previous commenter had ordered.

  • Got mine yesterday and set it up. Take some time to set up the rear camera with reverse function as it is not supposed to be set up inside the car but found the way to put it right above the plate.
The screen is quite more blue color but good response time and high quality. So far so good.

My review after installing this unit:

Tldr: Great unit, incredible value for money, Solid so far.

Install: Since I didn't need the dashcam,I installed the suction cup unit in reverse, sticking one end on the low point in glass resting the unit on the dashboard. Has been stable so far. Just the USB C cable connecting the unit from the car power socket.

Usage: Selected output as BT, paired phone to the unit with both Bluetooth and WIFi.

On connection it starts Android Auto.

    How it works:
Phone is also connected to the car Bluetooth. I use a pixel 7.
All media plays via car Bluetooth.
YouTube music (except revanced) and Google maps including ok Google works great and plays using car Bluetooth speakers.
Ok Google is responsive, startup time is fast, unit is reliable, display is bright.

Overall incredibly happy with the unit and it's function. Clearly a well thought out and designed unit with Amazon support to backup. Good find OP.
