  • oh i was thinking of the older model Olympus OM-D E-M1, why still so expensive in 2025

wow the EM1 from 2013 still good one review says
while this E-M1 original is more than 10 years old now, the Single-AF speed and accuracy in low contrast, low light situation outperforms the latest OM System OM-1 camera. There is no comparison, it just is so much better and more reliable. I wish OM-1 did not sacrifice the S-AF function over all the AI and subject tracking capabilities. I most shooting scenarios, I still rely on S-AF. And C-AF on the OM-1 is not that great when working in low contrast, low light situation either.

    • Digital cameras havent really gone down in price for a while now (feel like they plateaud around 2018-19 in terms of price reductions) and if anything the market is a bit insane with second hand bodies often not being much cheaper than brand new ones (save for DSLRs which are now no longer being sold brand new).

Add to that that the segment never really consolidated into a single lens mount system and you have the situation now wherein only Panasonic and Olympus (well the part that got sold) making cameras under the M4/3 system and the usual suspects (Canon, Nikon and Fuji) sticking to their own mounting systems.

  • If it were the mark II then we'd be talking

Snapped one of these up yesterday. Cheaper new than I have seen second hand, will be interested to see if they actually deliver the camera to me as I have had sellers cancel when big eBay coupons bring the prices super low.

Looking at a switch from an EM1.2 and will be interested to see if its the upgrade I think it will be. Have seen a mix of reviews on it but for the most part the reviewers and Youtubers I tend to trust are indicating it should be a good one.

All time low, really great price for the features, evf and build. Best deal if you are a MFT shooter.

Caved & got one, a lot of camera for sub 1.4k

Not much difference between the OM-1 vs OM-1 mk II

Stacked sensor, 400,000 actuation rating, fast readout, in-built ND filter, 8 stops of image stabilization, dual SD, IP53 rated weather sealing.

$200 cheaper than the last deal not that long ago.

Cash back is still available on lenses too.

I might need to get the 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro II that is also rated IP53.

It's a great camera for the price and features, plenty of M43/mft lens options, 12-40/12-45 pro are good option to go with.

25mm/45mm prime lenses if can get for cheap, is excellent regardless.

      60mm is another great lens
