Wouldn't necessarily say "recent", that article is now coming up on two years old. And from the looks of things, at the time the article was published, they had already largely fixed the issues people were complaining about.
That's a long way of saying it's old news (I agree).
I'm nothing if not verbose
At the end of the day the only way to hold companies to account is to vote with your wallet.
They lied for 2 years that the issue didnt exist and then lied again that it was fixed until media pressure made them fix it. If a similar thing happened again i doubt their company culture has changed in that 2 years
Unfortunately, there are no options atm. Not that I'm siding with Eufy/Anker.
Such is the case with Meta or Alphabet which have histories of privacy breaches and yet we still use them especially if you run a business and online ads.
By the way, I didn't neg your comment, assuming that it was you who negged me in retaliation.
Nope i havent negged anyone.
Just having a conversation and if i can raise some awareness of tbeir shoddy behaviour whilr i do it then thats great :)
I would buy this but my eufy cam 3 is only 1 year old :(
what's the difference?
Can this be pricebeat? In other words, has anyone?
JB refused, said best 1749 as the price isn't listed on their website publicly
What bollox is this? It’s a price that is publicly available to anyone (no membership required)
Boo JB!!
Most places that do price-beat exclude prices achieved with coupon codes
Is goodbuyz legit? Anyone used before?
I have… and the purchase arrived relatively quickly.
Bought a refurbed Eufy S380 Floodlight cam from these mob.
So far so good.
Yes, ironically I bought an S3 Pro set just before Chrissy, arrived quickly, no dramas, all sealed and brand new. Happy to recommend.
I only need 2 cameras - would I be best off buying the 4 cam kit and offloading 2, or just buying the 2 cam kit?
Don't need homebase?
I do - I have the old version 2 which is 4 years old, and sick of charging batteries and 2 of the cams have got foggy lenses. Not yet totally convinced I should even replace them with Eufy, given this experience.
Following. I need 2 cam kit
It is currently AUD $1,023.97 for two cam kit with the same discount code
yep, I noticed that, but 2 extra cams are only an extra $570. The cams are >$500 on their own, so was wondering if they were sellable to reduce my cost.
put me down for 1 spare if you get the kit
Any cashback?
Any 8 cameras deal gang?
Buy 2x and sell the 2nd Homebase?
That's good idea. Wondering if we can connect all 8 into one Homebase.
My Eufycam 3 4k solar panels are all stuffed. Would not recommend buying anything with the in built solar panel.
How long did they last?
Apparently they were released in Sep 2022.
I think I installed them around Jan 23. So definitely not long enough for $1999.
What happened to them?
Im hearing scum are using WiFi jammers now, so there's something to think about before you by wireless cameras!
This is an interesting point, some of the older EUFY cameras had their own onboard storage, but looks like the 3s Pro relies on its wifi connection to the Homebase …
Can’t speak for these, but the old Eufy cameras connect to the Homebase over something other than Wifi. You’ll miss alerts if someone jams the wifi or power, but you’ll still have the recordings. Somehow they removed this feature as the years have gone by…
So expensive..
Can Bunnings price beat this?
do Bunnings even stock S3 Pro?
Maybe? They definitely Price Beat Kogan. And goodbuyz sell through Kogan too it seems.
I bought the Cam3 (not pro) versions of these a year ago. Put them up recently and the batteries just die in a matter of a few days. I’ve tweaked all the settings so they only record 1 or 2 events each day, they still drain in days. Waste of time.
They even get direct sunlight for several hours in the day for the solar, and it barely tops them up. I couldn’t physically have them in a better setup.
Completely pointless now as it’s a pita to charge them every few days. I looked up reviews on reddit afterwards and thousands of similar complaints.
Hopefully the pro versions are substantially improved.
First time buying from this shop. I really hope they are good to deal with for any aftersales issues.
In my use case I would place all the cameras under the eaves, for a cleaner look and to have them protected from weather and harsh summer sun ☀️ This would make the cameras last longer IMO but completely negates the built-in solar.
My experience with solar lights is - that panel has to get direct - unobstructed sunshine for most of the day to recharge the light to be on for most of the night.
And I'd assume the cameras use more, not less energy than fairy lights.
This kind of exposure/heat, however, is VERY bad for the longevity of the lithium cells. To a point where I'd call the built-in solar version a gimmick.
Looks like this deal is back on
Listed at $2,499.95, coupon brings it down to $1999.96. :(
